Nintendo announces...."Nintendo Network"

So yeah, Nintendo is finally building a unified online experience that they hope to be on par with XBL and PSN. The service will cover both the Wii U and 3DS, no word on whether this will launch with the Wii U or not though, I'd like to think it will...but who knows.

Source.

Good luck with that. Nintendo and online goes together just as well as a catholic priest and babysitting.

I expect it to go about as well as the PSN launch.

Well, they needed to do it at some stage.

I'm not going to hold my breath for that, but PSN...unified? When did that happen?

Since the beginning. Your PSN user ID is used to play every online game (except the MMO's correct me if I'm wrong though) that makes it a unified online system.

This was inevitable given the growth and success of Live and the PSN. Whether they will hit the ground running is another matter entirely.

They're such innovators.

It will be nice to finally take their vast library of exciting titles into the online realm.

Good news. Nintendo's previous online offers have been utterly mediocre. Quite frankly, playing by sending each frame's instructions by post would be better than what the Wii can manage.

This is going to be hilarious. Unless this is completely outsourced, it stands no chance of being worth while. I'll bet they have the balls to charge for it too.

Nintendo truly is lost in the sauce when it comes to online cause fundamentally they do not believe in it. They outright said gamers don't want online and they were wrong. They are just trying to catch up to the interconnected world but they don't really believe in it.
