It has a full color, multitouch (rumored, maybe confirmed?), 6.2" (?) screen... that sounds pretty expensive to me... I guess they could always sell it at a loss at the now standard 60$ controller price point.

Wii U just seems like a disorganised mulch of Nintendo's wackier ideas. From the same guys that brought us the Wii, only more brain damaged.

Well all this time I assumed you could use all four tablet controllers, but if it's only one or two that will really suck. How does Nintendo expect to have so many damn party games when half the party has to use the poor-man's controllers?

Back when these consoles were made, RAM was one of the more expensive parts next to the processors. Now, they should have no problem packing RAM into them.

Absolutely. I completely agree. Don't the PS3 and 360 essentially use many of the same components as PC's at this point anyway? The PS3 specifically used to be able to run Linux OtherOS, and I know you can run versions of Linux on 360 if you have it modded.

I just realised something... I think. If the PS3's 512MB RAM is split between the CPU and GPU and that's what's causing the problems in Skyrim, isn't Nintendo making a similar mistake with their specs?

We'll probably find out the difficulty of putting RAM in a console when Sony and Microsoft bring out their new console specs...

The PS3 doesn't share RAM between the two, that's the issue. It has 256MB of system RAM and 256MB of vram. The 360 is the one that shares it between the two.

Yes but developers have access to both forms of RAM in the PS3. Not being unified like the 360 is a draw back but IMO a huge difference is the use of RAM by the O/S. PS3's O/S uses needs more RAM (60MB I think) as compared to 360's 32MB.

So developers have more RAM to use with the 360 as compared to the PS3. About 28MB which is alot cause every dev tries to utilize every drop of RAM available.

this current specs is only slightly higher than that of Xbox 360 and PS3 which were released more than 5 years before. I Dont know what they are thinking. Soon, Sony and Microsoft will release 10 times more powerful than there current specs. Also, i dont think hardcore gamers will switch to it, as gaming market isnt good in nintendo as they are in ps3 and xbox360.
it would be a fail IMO.

Ok, you got me. This is probably the wrong forum to make generalizations like that. I'm willing to bet most of the "general population" doesn't remember it. I don't recall sales figures off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure that system failed pretty badly. I only remember a handful of games being released for it, and none of them being particularly spectacular.

Same thing they were thinking with the Wii. The lower price point is going to attract consumers, and now that they have 85 million people with Wii's in their homes, it's not an outrageous idea that branding their new console as an upgraded Wii will sell units.

Even so, the graphical leap isn't going to be much to start a circle jerk over. The best looking PC games to date, really only look marginally better than console counterparts. What matters is performance, will Sony's and Microsoft's machines boast better load times? Will their hardware be as reliable? Who knows?

The Virtual Boy was pretty terrible, I still have one in it's original box, but I'll never ever, ever, ever, ever play it, that's for sure. Comparing the Wii U to the Virtual Boy isn't exactly fair though, since the Wii U isn't going to be blinding us with red "3D" images, and the Wii U actually has an interesting concept in not needing a TV to play it's games.
