There will be a PS4 but there shouldnt be and better not be a next gen systems for a long while. They havent pushed either the 360 or the PS3 anywhere near there limits yet!

I am pretty sure there will be another, as the PS3 hasn't been a failure. Sure it may not be the most popular but it has a decent install base. I think next time sony will make their next console much cheaper.

Someone once said to me "the only thing that has evolved as far as it can is toilet paper."

Just because we don't know what the next advancement in something will be doesn't mean it's not there. For consoles, bigger disc media for storing more information, fully interactive environments, I'm talking GTA to the UMPTEENTH, every building is enter able with a different environment inside each one, enough cars and pedestrian models that you can LITERALLY play an entire story mode and never see the same model twice.

How about photorealistic graphics? Let's face it, even the best looking games in the world (like Crysis) still look like a video game. But eventually consoles will evolve so deeply that you are basically playing an interactive live action movie. It'll happen someday.

PS4 will come, and it will begin down these roads. Dual-Layer BluRay maybe, will allow discs to store more information. ZERO loading screens (I'm talking cartridge style) where there is literally never a loading screen beyond "this is this game, you're now in it".

There are things to do, and PS4 (and the next X-Box generation) will both begin to do them.

Until there is a console that does not require a controller and can just read my mind in regards to what I want to do, they can still evolve.

OK, so, assuming that there will indeed be a PS4 - as seems likely, although it will probably be at least another 2 or 3 years before it starts making headlines - what more can they add?!? Huh?!?? I mean, let's say that the next one is fully backwards compatible (in other words, assuming they don't make the same mistake as they did with #3), then, ut will play PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PS4 games, not to mention CDs, DVDs and blu-rays and... what? What more can they possibly add?

Since PS1-PS2 the average span between next gen consoles is roughly 8 years. PS3 came out in 2006 if I remember so wait until 2014 to ask again.

unless the game IS a cartridge... it will require a loading screen. Every time you load up minimum. however beyond this point it would be fine. since it could just buffer ahead so far that it wouldn't need to do it again.accept in multi-player.

Oh I don't agree at all. I think PS2 is still the greatest system ever.

Playstation is already a recognized name.

lol, like sony is willing to ruin their own reputation to go out on a whim an try to be differnt. To me, why would you ruin somthing thats already the best? It will be called Playstation 4. When it will come? no one knows. 2-3 months ago I read a article in gameinformer about the console life span. everythin from last gen consoles and before, has a average lifespan of 5 years. As with this generation of consoles. they are aiming for roughly around 8, possibly around 9 or 10 even. So get comfortable. I know I am -- with games out there like Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Infamous, MGS4. these are games that show what ps3 is capible of, The best part about it -- we havnt even seen its real true potential I bet.
