New Release: Scribblenauts

Did anybody besides me pick this game up?

This is one of my favorite DS games by far. It's fun to just play through the levels, trying to think of really wacky ways to solve the different puzzles. I'm usually not too original, though, and end up using ropes/chains and wings a lot.

So, if you have it, how well do you like it? Also, what's some of the crazy ways/crazy items you've used to beat a level?

my sister has it and i played it for a bit,its a fun little game but the controls really get on my nerves at times.
in one of the action levels there is a button on the wall which i had to kepp pressed in order to get a gate open, the problem was this:the button was on the top floor and the gate on the first floor.i actually summoned a knight and a dragon and when they were fighting they accidentally pushed the button!!
the other was a big door i had to get open and nothing worked,i summoned a nuke and the door got destroyed...along with me!so i summoned a bunker, took refuge in it and then summoned the nuke!

i want my sig back

Seems that it should be a game to pick up. It got a metascore of 82, and just in case anyone wanted to know it came out in the US on the 15th and is to be released in Europe on the 8th October. Australia got it yesterday...

And here's the reason it's taking longer to get here...

I've been wondering how well Scribblenauts would work over in the UK, as over there taking off your pants has far stronger connotations than it does on the U.S. side of the pond. Well now we know, thanks to a press release assuring UK customers that they can safely draw water from a tap, stroll down the pavement, and partake of an ice lolly without having to mess about with our butchery of the language.

"Fear not mistaken pants-over-trouser-wearers, as Scribblenauts developer, 5th Cell, has gone out of its way to localise the UK release of Scribblenauts to include words specifically for the UK market. Faucets, popsicles, sidewalks, diapers and, of course, the meaning mess that is football and soccer, will confuse British DS owners no more..."

Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS will be out on October 9th...sorry, 9th October in the UK.

In other news, a hacker claims to have the full list of 22,802 words in the game, but the creative director of the game says that there are more than that. 5th Cell have also had to say that the inclusion of "sambo" in the list (apparantly it's a racial term?) wasn't intentional for that use, rather "to the Spanish term for a fig leaf gourd that resembles a watermelon" which is what you get when you write that word.

On-line buddy of mine showed me the E3 videos for this, and I must admit it looks quite intriguing. But it looks to me like something that I'd get bored of after 15 minutes due to it being too easy. Guess the game is more suppose to be about challenging your imagination than getting through it as quickly as possible.

I also thought it would be very easy. But to my surprise, the levels are actually very challenging, and you will spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out a way to beat some levels. I'm only on level 3 and I've already been stumped at least 10 or 11 times.

Have you found yourself going back to various levels in an attempt to complete them differently? Cause that was another of the bonuses of the game according to the videos my buddy showed me. Since there's so many different ways to complete the game, you could potentially play one level forever. That's be awesome if they added highscores where they showed who had completed one level the most amount of times.

Yeah, I have re-visited a few levels after I've already beat them. I'll be playing the levels after it, and then I will all of a sudden have an idea to beat one of the past levels, and go back to that level to test it out. There is even a challenge mode where once you complete the level the first time, it challenges you to beat it 3 more times without using the same items twice.

I also found an interesting item in the game. It would be the Large Hadron Collider. You can interact with it by making Maxwell touch it (he appears to push a button) and then it explodes, and a black hole appears. I found this quite funny. Anybody else found any interesting items in the game?

Still have yet to pick it up, but I'd try "Silver Hammer" as an item; what with the character's name being Maxwell.

As many great puzzlers as the DS has...this is definitely near the top of the heap. Entertaining, quirky, and multiple ways to solve most puzzles. Instant win.
