I'm really surprised no one has started a thread about this movie. It comes out today. Is no one excited about this movie?
I think it has potential to be the biggest movie of the month.

Trailer 1
Trailer 2

2012 was awesome!

I've been waiting for this movie for over a year. I actually made a thread back when the first trailer came out in the hopes of creating some interest in the GW community. I'm going to see it today after I pick my girlfriend up form school. I'll come back with a full review.

Also did anyone else watch the 2004 short film it was based on?

I'm really excited to see this. I only have a small idea of what it's about so hopefully I get around to seeing it this weekend before people spoil it for me

It looks like it is based in the game LittleBigPlanet on PS3. I might see it but I can't say that I'm hyped for it or anything.

Not hyped, but I always enjoy dark animated movies. Hope this is no exception.

I have this thing about Burton where I hate him. The movie has a cool idea behind it, but the Matrix was already made about ten years ago.

I'm not interested whatsoever, but I'm interested in what you guys have to say about it, so do review it.

When I first saw the trailer I thought LittleBigPlanet characters in Fallout 3 universe.

There is almost no similarity between The Matrix and 9. And so what if you hate Burton? He was just the producer. The real heart and soul of the movie was Shane Acker who made the short film the movie is based on.

So I saw it today, keep reading for my review below.

This movie was good. That's it. Not great but good. If you are on the fence about it, do not pay the money to see it in theaters, rent it. If you're like me and were really looking forward to seeing it, then by all means go ahead and fork over the cash to do so.

The movie was only 75 minutes long which is a huge disappointment. I really wish they increased the length in order to flesh out the story and more importantly, the characters more. As it is, everything the main character does just seems rushed and forced. Why is he doing this? Why does he care so much? Why is it that even though he was just "born" he and everyone else acts like they've known each other for a long time?

I'm not going to go into plot details because I don't want to spoil it. I'll just say it's a very basic plot. There are no new ideas, or concepts introduced that haven't been shown in games, movies, tv, and books a thousand times over.

For those parents who are thinking of taking their kids to this movie just because it's animated, don't. It may cause nightmares for the younger crowd and may be too dark for the slightly older. If you think your kids are old enough to handle seeing one of the characters sits in a severed human hand and "gets high" then go ahead and take them.

All in all it was a genuinely good movie. It was nothing spectacular, though it easily could have been. In the end it was hampered by it's length, and character development. I'd give it 7/10.

Lolwut? Have you seen 9? Or better yet, any of the Matrix movies? They have nothing in common.

I'm probably going to see this on Friday, it looks good, and the talent is there so yeah.

There is one similarity. But then again this similarity did not come from the Matrix originally.

The whole "machines turning against us" thing brings up memories of the descriptions and depictions of Judgment Day in the Terminator movies.

I was just alluding to the whole 'machines ruin Earth kill the humand and then there's a chosen 'One'(or 9 lol) blahblahblah'. Though Terminator is a better example than the Matrix. Good call.

9 isn't a chosen one though.

I don't know, it kinda seemed like he was the one that was given that job. The Scientist could have left that message to any one of the others, but instead gave it to Nine.

He couldn't give any of them the message because, other than 5 none of the the others stuck around the Scientist's place for more than a few seconds.

This movie looks too strategically marketed to be good.

"NOT YOUR LITTLE BROTHER'S ANIMATED MOVIE.
Rated PG:13 for Violence and Scary Moments"
I don't know about any of you but i'd say if i had a little brother, that sounds like his kind of movie.

The trailers (most of them, I did see one with a bit of dialogue) seem to be hell-bent on reminding us that Tim Burton was involved without divulging any plot or giving any dialogue.
