Battlefield 2 Noob question

I recently started playing BF2 (not special forces) and I can't seem to figure out how to earn points toward ranking up. I played every map in single player before I noticed that the games are in rounds of 3, so then I played all 3 rounds in a single map winning each one, and still did not receive any points toward ranking up. I would really like to rank up and unlock some of the weapons so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

Well, I haven't done BF2 (PC) for a fair while, but as I recall, you'll have to play online in order to rank up to get the new weapons - or, if you've actually got the first release version, I believe you can edit a .txt file to give them to you offline

You must play online and download 1,41 and then 1,5 to rank up

well 1st of all u have to play on ranked servers thats why ur not getting points
