I need Help! lol My PS2 which I bought like 2 months back has been freezing!
Not Just one or two of my games but Half my library has crashed on this Model. It is a Fat one. but year's ago I had another one that worked like a beast rarely did games crash on my old one.! Come 2009 After playing the Xbox360 and after blowing off my old one. I couldn't help it! No RE 4, MK D,GTA SA,GTA VC! I was losing it without them you know... So I got a New one which seemed okay at first but as time passed I noticed mad games were freezing up. I got the Mortal Kombat Kollection okay and Shaolin Monks first. And my baby MK Deception Crashed during Conquest just today. Its Brand New too! My San Andreas has not Crashed...Yet! nor my Vice City but most of my games have on it. I never really had this problem in the past so I'm not Sure what to think. I Don't Wanna Give up my games cuz of some B.S Errors you know! But I don't wanna Conclude its the system either so tell me what do you think System or F***ed games? Some are used and some are new so I'm Ina itchy sticky game problem situation thingy! lol! Any answer is Acceptable at this point |

As a general rule of thumb, if more than one game is giving you problems the console itself is the root cause. Though as for what exactly is going on, it could be a number of things.
With the PS2 it's usually dust. If you don't have a warranty or can not return the console, try opening it up (careful while taking the top half off) and clearing as much dust from the fan and the disc tray as possible; use canned air if possible (don't spray the lens itself), though a sweeper equipped with a hose accessory can also get the job done. Use a clean Q-tip/cotton swab and gently rub the lens in a circular motion to clean that. You're cleaning the fan to ensure that the console isn't locking up due to heat, and the disc tray to ensure that dust hasn't settled on the lens and is interfering with your lens' ability to read the data.

Thanx! Like I said this rarely happened years back. So I be stressing it! Foolishly I refused The Warranty thinking I'd be fine...Not True! But by now even the 30 day store Warranty is expired so I'm stuck with it and have no choice but to try (carefully!) Cleaning the Eye. Maybe the Eye IS Dirty seeing it's a used PS2 no...Refurbished PS2 Sorry.

Sell your PS2 and get a slim... I've had mine for about 3-4 years and it still works beutifully... although, i had one game that wouldnt play on the slim... but your games will probably all work... i dont know about mortal Kombat though... most games now are designed for the slim cause that is what most if not all people have these days.

Which game was it? Chances are you just needed to change the disc speed...
