if money isnt an object you might want to get some better parts. all of my computer parts cost me 2000 including a new monitor that was 450 bucks.
asus p6t deluxe (make sure its the new version) intel quadcore 2.6 processor (i got it overclocked to 3.2 but i run it at 3.0 Ghz) eventulally when the top end chip gets cheaper i will swap it out but right now its 1000 dollars.......im not that rich. ![]() corsair 850 psu (this is the one error i made on this build, eventually i got all the cables to fit nice and neat for the most part but i wish i had gone with a modular power supply. it literally took me longer to organize my cables than to build the rest of the computer.corsair dominator memory 6 GB antec case forgot the model but it has six fans with individual fan controls, even with stress tests my mobo/cpu never got above 50 C cost me 120 bucks but is well worth it since i intend on using it for future builds when i cannabilize this one. i also got an azuntech card....was a hard choice between that and the asus card that had better ratings in everything else except in games which is primarily what this build was for. azuntech has better drivers and better components than creative labs cards which is weird since azuntech cards are based off of them. nvidia 285 graphics card which was 300 at the time i purchased but is probably cheaper now. that thing runs like a monster. the best test i have found to date is stalker clear sky with the extra lighting options turned on. it was literally a slide show with my 8800 gtx which still ran everything else flawlessly but the 285 got 15 to 20 fps on it before i did any overclocking. dont buy into the sli thing. almost all the time the next gen of cards runs better than two previous models together. as for OS if you go with a 64 bit then i would suggest keeping a 32 bit on a partition since several programs i have encountered have difficulties running on 64. it would be nice if they just stopped offering 32 bit systems so that everyone is on the same page. |

Virobot, bigjohnson is allowed to contribute to the post. While I agree it seems like he's boasting about his own set-up, he's allowed to discuss and offer alternative approaches. This is just a caution. Bain, please don't respond to posts you believe to be SPAM or flaming because many mods will warn you as well for contributing.
