your kidding... right?
Starfox Adventures: Dinosaur... whatever. my girlfriend plays that and is obviously for minors. i mean little kids c'mon. No adult would play this unless it would be for nostalgia. If you actually enjoy it is because deep down inside your 10, and i know that isn't saying much about my girlfriend but she's not a gamer and i don't expect her to get able to play halo with any amazing skill or beat Resident Evil in anything less than a year. If your actually asking if its good or not you need to re-evaluate and ask yourself, Am I an adult or a prepubecent bed wetter?

It got an 82 on Metacritic, so it's still a really good game despite the "kiddy" appearance of the dinosaurs and the difference in gameplay from StarFox 64. It's not as good as StarFox 64, and I still haven't gotten that far in the game (one of several I need to go back and finish), but I think it's pretty good. Just because a game isn't a bloody slug/shootfest doesn't mean it's only for kids. It even has a T rating (meaning 13+) for pete's sake!
By the way, if anyone wants to continue this discussion, then this should be moved to the StarFox forum.

As an ardent lover of SF64, I can assure you that there is no such forum. There used to be one but it got trashed ages ago for inactivity. Guess you should look around a bit more before mini modding, eh Bulba?
That aside, I haven't liked any of the Starfox games since 64. They've all just failed miserably to stand up to gold standard, I'm afraid.

right
games donthave to be bloody or violent to be good but if metacritic said jumping of a cliff with out a chute was a solid 100 would you do it? i enjoy rpgs and shooters and suspense and just about every genre you could have, however a game has to have some level of decent synaptic engagement to hold someones attention wich would explain why you havent finished it. starfox adventures is a chldrens game flat-out! doesnt mean you cant play it but you cant argue with the symantics. is it good, for a 10 year old it is and that explains its rating, I ITS FOR KIDS. the starfox ip just went south on that one just face it. and furthurmore if your basis of games is established through some cullmination of reviews such as metacritic your losing respect, humans arent sheep and our greatest tool is the ability to think for themselves, so your argument is void. dont get me wrong i do own the game and have played it but your answer should have been clear the moment your cube loaded the first cust scene and if you need a online forum to make you realize that then starfox adventures is perfect for you.

So you just don't like it because it's a "kids game"?

Actually, it's not good for a 10 year old, because the T rating recommends you to be at least 13 to play it. If the target audience was really meant to be that young, then Nintendo really screwed up by allowing enough violence for a T rating.
MetaCritic certainly isn't perfect, but it does give a general idea about the quality of a game. If a game targeted towards children is good enough, it will also be enjoyable to many older and more serious than the target audience (with the exception of some non-games like Wii Fit and Wii Music). A game with a score of 82 implies that the quality of the game is good enough for a lot of teenagers and adults to enjoy as well. A game that's unenjoable to older games would never receive enough good reviews to have a MetaCritic score of 82. By the way, MetaCritic would never tell anyone to jump off a cliff without a chute, because it simply averages all the credible review scores, and the credible reviews of that activity would all be bad. Now, Star Fox Adventures isn't your kind of game, and that's fine (I don't like Zelda games, but there's lots of people who do), but it's certainly not unenjoyable for all older, more serious gamers. I just don't like how you're generalizing the tastes of such a huge group of gamers despite so much evidence to the contrary. Wii Fit deserves that kind of generalization but not this game. I like it, and I'll eventually go back and finish it (If I have the video game skills to do so. I'm not sure how hard the later levels get.). I also like games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and the Conduit, so I'm certainly not a kiddy gamer. It's certainly no Star Fox 64, but it's still a pretty good entry to the series like Super Mario Sunshine is to the Mario series.

this game was designed for gamers of all ages not just kids. the people who think its a little kids game clearly only played the first mission and said "this is too different from SF64 and it sucks now." well they're wrong cuz the game has a depth not unlike many FPS games. the switch from guns and bombs to hand to hand was a welcome change for a veteran of SF64 like me. its nice to see that Fox does know how to use melee weapons and not just his signature blaster. while the game is frustrating its frustrating in a good way and poses a new challenge to the player in the form of "do i use staff powers or test my skills in hand to hand?" i go for hand to hand because its a good setup in controls, and combo execution is superb. its really well designed and perfectly executed.

I absolutely LOVED this game. I don't give a rats ass if it's basically Zelda with the Star Fox franchise slapped on it...I completely enjoyed the game. As a matter of fact, I think me and my GF sat through and beat the game in two sittings (17 hours of gameplay). I remember being awed by the awesome boss battle at the end.
Then I remember coming online and seeing all crap being flung on it and couldn't understand why. To this day SFA is the only game I completely differ from the majority on. Everyone hates it and I love it. I can't understand why people feel the way they do outside of the fact that it's not a flying game like the others in the franchise. Oh well.... |
