In Rainbows
Is the new album from Radiohead as good as most of the critics claim it to be? I've been wanting to buy a new CD. Since I don't live anywhere close to a good alternative radio station which is was usually influenced my CD purchases.

Definitely. It is easily one of the nest albums of the year. I don't understand why you didn't just do the free download you could have done though. Now you have to pay a ton of money for that box set.

Not really. I bought just the CD and nothing more at Borders.

OK, I bought the CD and played it on my way home. And I've got to say, it's not what I expected. Don't get me wrong, it's good, just not what I was hoping for. Maybe it's because I haven't heard much Radiohead, but I didn't expect it to be so... mellow. It was more like, U2, Coldplay, or Red Hot Chilli Peppers Stadium Arcadium album with out the more upbeat tracks.
None of the songs are memorable or catchy. I'm also a bit disappointed that there was only 10 tracks. It took them 4 years to come up with 10 tracks? Why? Red Hot Chili Peppers came up with somewhere between 20 and 30 songs during their 4 year break; granted most of them were relatively boring, but they still came up with more than 10! The Pros? I could listen to the CD all day and not skip a track since I didn't dislike any of the tracks. Something like that is hard to find. Overall, it's a good album, just not as good as expected. |

I really wouldn't say that In Rainbows was ANYTHING like U2 or Coldplay. And DEFINTITELY nothing like Stadium Arcadium. If anything, it sounds more like Radiohead's other album "The Bends". And just because Radiohead hasn't released everything they've written doesnt mean they don't have unreleased tracks. That's exactly what Stadium Arcadium was. A bunch of B-sides and unreleased tracks from over the past years. And in my opinion, Stadium Arcadium sucked. |

The album really has a feel that's unlike anything I've ever heard before...It takes it's time to grow on one's mind, but once you really get to listen, damn, it's awesome.
Weird Fishes/Arpeggi has this underwater feel (To go with the song's lyrical theme, obviously), reminded me of the kind of music Zelda: OoT had for the water areas, it's just intense, and awesome. Other intense ones: Jigsaw Falling Into Place and Faust Arp. I confess songs like 15 Step and Bodysnatchers haven't quite caught me yet, but they're cool, make no mistake. I really find no similarity with the bands you mentioned though, no offense.
