Windows 2000 Compatibility...

Simple question, why would a game say it works on Windows 98 and XP, but not on 2000? What differences are there that would make it any less compatible?

i don't know, what game are you talking about?

anyways i guess they are just trying to limit their resources by making it to the most used operating systems.

that sucks though.

Is this a game you've actually tried to install on 2000? The only differences I can remotely think of would be drivers for certain hardware and the structure of 2000's service packs. FYI, service pack four was the final release for 2000, that and probably a couple other roll-ups. I suppose it's also possible there were slight differences in the NTFS filesystem early on, although I doubt it.

2000 is closer to NT then the other two are. That might explain the problem. You can browse Nt Compatible for tips about how to make certain games work on 2000.
