Led Zeppelin; est Album ?

Hello I'm new here so a Zeppelin thread might have already happened but here goes.

I love Led Zeppelin and as far as best album I would have to say the unnamed fourth album. The track listing is just incredible; the only undesirable song there is Four Sticks.

Aside from being their greatest record one would also go as far as to say it's one of the most supreme albums ever.

Four Sticks is awesome. ;-)

I love most of Led Zep's stuff. IV is very balanced and is the only one I've really heard fully. Their earlier efforts, while good, don't really appeal to me that much. My favorite songs are out of Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti, but I don't know how those hold up compared to IV.

Still, probably one of the best bands ever, 'nuff said.

Well IV has some of the more well known songs like Rock and Roll, Black Dog, The Battle of Evermore, When the Levee Breaks, and of course the Mac Daddy of all songs Stairway to Heaven.

Now on to Four Sticks, its only my least favorite song on the album- it still qualifies as badass.

Houses of the Holy is a good one along with Trampled Underfoot, and Kashmir, sadly I’ve only heard the more famous songs on Physical Graffiti but I look forward to.

IV is a great album, but it's also probably the most hyped as well due to such songs as Stairway and Black Dog. I'd have to say that my favourite is probably Led Zeppelin II.

Wow.. what a question. I have a really hard time picking between II, III, and IV as well as Houses of the Holy. I love songs off each. I still maintain that, had the Rain Song been played as much as Stairway to Heaven is, it'd be just as popular.
If you haven't seen The Song Remains The Same or their double-disc concert, the name of which escapes me, i HIGHLY recommend it. They put on one heck of a show. Make sure you watch to see Jimmy play his guitar with a bow. Rocks every time.

Is "How the West Was Won" what you were referring to?

I really can't pick a favorite. I'll go through them all again this week and get back to you though.

Nope, it's actually just called "Led Zeppelin" far as I can tell.
How the West Was Won is just a hits album, isn't it?

How the West Was Won is a four disk recording of a couple live shows, I believe. It's pretty much a greatest hits live album that I think came out around 4 or 5 years ago.

And I will not choose a favorite Zeppelin album as there are a few that sit at the top for me (II, IV, Houses of the Holy).

Probably either Physical Graffiti or Houses of Holy. They both have the best track listing. My problem with IV is I don't really go for Battle of Evermore or Houses of Holy and all the rest just don't compare. Especially Presence. Seriously forget that album except for Achilles Last Stand. But anyways, I own every Led Zeppelin album including Coda, so I think it's safe to say I'm making pretty sound judgements right na'.

Edit: When I say Houses of Holy I ment Going to California. As Houses of Holy is not even a song on IV.

Battle Of Evermore is a brilliant song - partly in thanks to the wonderful sound of Sandy Denny - it adds weight to the incredible diversity in Zeppelin's music. They recorded a number of fantastic folkie numbers when they weren't rocking everyones socks off. And then they play the blues too.

My favourite tracks would have to be "Since I've Been Loving You" and "No Quarter". The latter is amazing when you've had a few smokes.

Also, presence is not a bad album atall, it may not be memorable but it's certainly not forgettable. I own every album also, and I can say that there is no real bad album, I quite enjoy listening to them all. My favourite though has to be Led Zeppelin II. The only blot on that album is "Moby Dick" which I always skip (that, Hats Off To Roy Harper and The Crunge are the only Zeppelin songs I ever skip). the rest is a masterpiece. I love how the whole album seems to have a running theme right through. Full of funky basslines, hard rock and blues. Probably one of the most played albums in my collection.

Yeah that's nice and all, but it's also my opinion. Seeing as I didn't state it as a fact I'd mind if you left it alone. I appreciate being lectured by the Zeppelin guru but you're definatly not changing my mindset so just drop it.

Are you on drugs, man? You're being a bit hostile for no reason.

I think that's what he was doing as well. Stating his opinion. I didn't read it as a lecture. Worry not, he wasn't trying to give you any crap

Indeed I was just saying that I Love Battle Of Evermore, along with pretty much everything else they have ever recorded. My post would have been the same whethere he had posted or not (minus the Battle Of Evermore part, obviously). I have an undying passion for Led Zeppelin, and I always have done so if I see a thread with their name on it, it's an instinctive reaction to write an essay about them

Anyway, no matter - we all get a bit moody sometimes, say after a heavy nights' drinking, or when drunk on Stella Artois.

Alright then my apologies. It just looked like a bet of an attack on first read. Having re-read it wasn't really that bad at all. So, nevermind and the like.
