Lupe Fiasco's The Cool

Ok it doesn't seem like a lot of rap is discussed on this forum, and if it is, it's just a case of me not looking well enough. But I guess I do like to hear different opinions here, so I'll post anyways.

Lupe's first cd was by far one of the best albums of 06, and now it's 07 and I'm hit with another cd. I'm happy. So far. I put it in my computer and pretty much whiz through the whole cd while reading the lyrics. Catchy but sub-par. Idk if this is the second year slump, or he's too rich to care, but clearly he went for another feel for this cd.

His first cd addressed real issues and was truly trying to bring them to light. However with this new cd it just seems like someone told him, " Hey, people are used to you talking about this so, uhh, yeah, keep it going!" The cd wasn't blatantly contrived, but yeah, he’s definitely feelin the stardom now. Which is not a bad thing, but I didn't expect for him to show so soon.

I just want to hear thoughts on him, good or bad
