Battlefield 2 crashing on start up for first time.

So I don't end up telling a whole story here, the short of it is, I haven't even touched my PC since August.

Today I tried to start up Battlefield 2, however, after I get the splash screen that says Battlefield 2 in big letter, the screen goes black like the game's about to start, and then crashes to desktop. I've owned BF2 and played it with very little trouble since 2005. And now all the sudden for some unexplained reason the game won't start. I've done everything I can think of, I've reinstalled the game, reinstalled DirectX9, and updated my graphics card drivers. Nothing is working. Anyone else have any other ideas?
