I liked Disturbed when I was like 13, before I knew what real metal was.
They're alright. I dunno. Not that great, really. Kinda cliche, untalented. They sound good, sometimes, but they are not good. At least not talented. Friend of mine called them the Celine Dion of metal. |

Come on, you can't really call them untalented, because if they were, they really wouldn't be where they are now. Granted they're nowhere near the best metal band, but they're still pretty good. In fact, they're probably in my top 5 favorite bands list. Just because they aren't Iron Maiden quality doesn't mean they're not good, Neil.

Hmm, well I got 10,000 fists from my brother and the first 5 songs were great, the rest was sort of disappointing. I bought the album Believe, and I've only listened to the first few songs, but so far it is pretty disappointing. However I do really like what they do, so they're not good, but not bad.

To call them untalented is stupid. Dave Draiman has some of the most unique vocals in hard rock/metal today. Note that isn't me saying 'the best', because I wouldn't consider him the best of anything. But name one other guy who sounds like him. You won't be able to.
A lot of people were real quick to just lump them in with the 'nu metal' crowd with The Sickness. Believe didn't completely distance themselves from that crowd, but cuts like "Remember" and "Darkness" stood out for being different, and really very good. However, when Ten Thousand Fists came out, I have to say I am very firmly ready to place them in the "metal" group. They have lots of ass-kicking riffs, powerful song structures, and aren't afraid to dabble in off-time signatures as well (check out "I'm Alive", which arguably has some of Draiman's best vocal work to date). I would certainly call them one of the best mainstream metal bands today. In the same echelon as, say, Maiden, Dream Theater, Soilwork, etc? No, not even close. But as far as bands that are mainstream, Disturbed has more than enough talent and enough great sounding songs to certainly call them the best in that category. |

Ten Thousand Fists was an ok album, i liked Believe alot more, but on their site it says they just put the finishing touches on their newalbum "Indestructable" i just wonder if their gonna do more political stuff or go back to their stuff similar to their older albums (Believe, and The Sickness)

If you go on ultimate-guitar.com and look around at other sites (myspace, their official site, etc.), they've said they're going for a much darker, heavier sound this time around. With how popular the various sub-genres of death metal are becoming nowadays, I'd expect them to do something along those lines. It'd be farking nuts to hear a death metal influenced Disturbed album.

Aw sweet, generic Nu Metal. I like Striken, Voices, Stupified and Down With The Sickness and that's it. All the rest of Disturbeds music does not in one way appeal to me. And the lead singers voice, unqiue as it is, annoys me. It sounds like he's talking to me through a high-speed modem.
Edit: Disturbed will never be death metal. They cannot even touch BTBAM or Horse or Job for a Cowboy (Who are technically freak-out). Good day to you.

No, they won't be death metal and that'll be a good thing.
They'll actually have some substance. Yeah, I went there. |

*A drumline of nothing but blastbeats *A guitar line of nothing but tremelo picking/shredding *An inaudible bassline *A vocalist who sounds like he's purging his lunch instead of saying words as music with "substance", then they/you need to completely redefine your definition of "substance". I like my brutality, but I don't like it to be completely incomprehensible as so many death metal bands feel the need to be. 2) Again, I don't think Disturbed is anywhere near the upper echelon of any band, but their newest album has, as far as I am concerned, far more substance than anything ever put out by, say, Cannibal Corpse. |
