Total number of catchable pokemon

whats the highest number of pokemon you can get in diamond. e.g. can you catch pokemon from all the other pokemons?
what number can you get your pokedex up to.

Legitimately, I think you can get 490 pokemon (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus must be obtained at events.

Mew and Celebi are also off-limits to anyone who doesn't use cheating devices. Other legendaries are available to anyone who has almost every game of advanced generation.

That should be legit. I've never heard of a toy store giving away fake pokemon.

If you don't want to bother checking that list, just remember that the list consists of the starters, their evolutions, and the legendaries from the first three generations.
