What type of PC should I buy?
I am thinking about buying a new PC. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about what to get. Somethings I would like to know would be a laptop vs/ desktop for gaming especially. What type is better for gaming, etc.. You get the picture. Thanks ahead of time.

For games, a desktop is always better, unless you have to have the portability. Per $$$ you can always get better components with better performance from a desktop. Also, laptop keyboards, mice, screens and speakers aren't very nice to play games on, because they are small and usually of not very high quality.

laptops are not as great with gaming the best out there for gaming would have to be toshiba, apple (if you put vista on it) or hp. other wise a pc would be your best bet because it is so much easyer to upgrade and cost wise is way less

Like everyone else, i too would say get a desktop. one big reason besides all the ones already listed above, you can upgrade a desktop to better suit the latest games.

It's much easier to upgrade the components of a desktop, so my suggestion is to go that route. However, were you asking on advice for specific systems? Of course for gaming I would probably guess that Alienware is the top dog for gaming systems? Even though I hate to promote Dells, I hear the Dell XPS systems are good...

Dell, you will get the best customer service and a great machine that will last for a long time. I got my dell 7 years ago and it is still running like a new computer. However a new computer that is stripped down, but a new computer none the less.

If you are looking for a good desktop computer to play games on i suggest you should buy a Alienware computer(made especially for playing computer games on) or an Apple.

dr_st is right. For the price you can pay for a Dell or AlienWare you can build one anywhere from 10%-20% cheaper with the same parts and similar style of case.

Destop is your best bet...
a laptop at 3,000 would be the same thing as a destop for 1,800 but if you really need the laptop i would go asus cause they are a lot cheaper than alienware for same stuff.. if your going for a destop hp blackbird (i think thats what it is called) is really good, alienware, and sad to say dell would be ok.. dont buy a apple unless your going to put windows on it for gaming |

Well yeah custom built is definitely the best, however the 'common' computer user doesn't build their own systems. If you feel comfortable with it or have a friend you trust then Custom is the way to go. If you need help with spec'ing out a system let us know, we'll be glad to help.

Well the question of what computer to buy has been solved inadvertently by Christmas. I got a sony vaio notebook with Vista. (Who knows if that is a good thing or not.) I havent downloaded any games for it yet, but I am wanting to try World of Warcraft on it, just because I havent played it yet. (No time). I can still upgrade in the future. I dont even know the spec.s on it.Thanks for all the comments.
