can you trade pokemon from a game like ruby if you have it in the ds along with lets say, pearl?

of course you can trade ruby, sapphire, fire red, leaf green, and emerald pokemon to pearl or diamond.

it's not really a trade, you migrate them into diamond or pearl. once you do you can't get them back onto your ruby, sapphire, fire red, leaf green, and emerald games.

how do i do it??? i dont know if i have to start up ruby or pearl. i put ruby in the ds, do i go to the pokemon center in pearl?

Once you beat the Elite 4 and see all 150 Pokemon in the Sinnoh Dex, go to Rowan's lab. There, Professor Oak will give you the National Dex. Then, Surf south from there and go to the Pal Park. Once you have access to the Pal Park, you'll be able to migrate Pokemon from any ADV game that's in the ADV slot of your DS. You do this from the start-up menu of your Pearl.
