For future reference, here's a thread detailing when Pokemon events will take place. If you would like to let us know of an upcoming event, please use the following template:

Where: (location of event)

Where: Nintendo World Store (New York City, NY, USA)
When: Now, during store hours
What: Darkrai (same as TRU giveaway)

Where: New York City and Los Angeles
When: Online registration ends June 17th; Qualifying round on July 12th (LA) or 19th (NY)
What: Pokemon tournament

Basically, it's a giant tournament that will pit the U.S.'s and Japan's best Pokemon battlers against each other (or so the event says). Here's a quick rundown of the rules:

128 people who score 75% or better on the test will be invited to the qualifying round at each location.
Battles are 2v2, with 4 Pokemon each.
Species Clause: you are permitted to use only one of each species of Pokemon
Pokemon must be level 50 or lower (NO AUTOLEVELING)
Item Clause: No two Pokemon may be holding the same item.
Each Pokemon must have unique nicknames. No naming Pokemon after other Pokemon (i.e. Charmander named Squirtle). Offensive nicknames or trainer names will result in disqualification.
The following Pokemon are banned: Dragonite, Mewtwo, Mew, Tyranitar, Lugia, Ho-oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Heatran, Regigigas, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus. The item Soul Dew is also banned.
Pokemon are restricted to using moves learned by the following methods: level up, TM/HM, Egg move, Move Tutor, event Pokemon. Smeargle may only Sketch moves learned by Pokemon #1-491. (THIS MEANS NO SEED FLARE/JUDGMENT)
The use of game-altering devices is prohibited. Anyone found to have a "hacked" Pokemon or item will be disqualified.

That event is almost certainly fake, so I'm not going to post it. Several people have contacted the Nintendo World Store and no one knows anything about it.

you can tell its fake look at the top the nintendo thing is from different piece of paper

Eh, I found it on both smogon and serebii, and assumed it was legit. But after reading more of the replies it looks like most people think it isn't.

And $uper$imon, if you read the bottom of the poster it mentions the Nintendo World Store as well, so it doesn't really matter if the top was glued on or not.

I believe they're free, but it wouldn't hurt to bring $20 or so just in case.
