So, I have 4000 points...

I went mad and bought a load of points for the Wii store. So far I've bought the games that I REALLY thought I should have, those being International Karate +, Super Metroid, Punch Out!! and Sin and Punishment. Question is, with 4000 points left, what should I get next? I don't know the WiiWare titles and I don't want to blow them all on Mario RPG and the Earthworm Jim games and miss out on something I regret...

Here's what I had under consideration, anything you can add?
  • Final Fight 1
  • Final Fight 2
  • Final Fight 3
  • Super Probotector
  • Super Mario RPG
  • Super Punch Out
  • Pilotwings
  • Super Star Wars 1
  • Super Star Wars 2
  • Super Star Wars 3
  • Earthworm Jim 1
  • Earthworm Jim 2
  • Last Ninja 1
  • Last Ninja 2
  • Summer Games II (dependant on whether it combines the first Summer Games into it)
  • Winter Games

I hate the Final fight series so I wouldn't get those. You can never go wrong with Earthworm Jim. Good times.

I found Super Punch Out hard to play. Maybe it was just me. I don't know.

Graduis, Secret of Mana, The Megaman Series, Chrono Trigger, Wild Guns, Orge Battle Are other ones I would add if you don't have those already.

I had Super Punch-Out on the SNES when I was little and once you figure out the opponents they're relatively easy for the most part. Quite a few had one-punch knockdown setups too. I think Piston Hurricane could be knocked out in under 10 seconds if I remember correctly. Or are you talking about the VC version?

These are my first forays into the Virtual Console even though I've had the thing for years.

Have you ever played Cave Story? I heard it was on the virtual console and it's a fantastic game.

I'll just comment on the titles I know something about:
  • Final Fight 1,2,3 - I would go with 3, it's the one I've always preferred because of it's multiple paths through each level.
  • Super Mario RPG - Can't go wrong here, it's a classic.
  • Pilotwings - Not as good as you probably remember it to be. I replayed it last year for a little bit, and it was not nearly as cool as I remember it.
  • Super Star Wars 1, Super Star Wars 2, Super Star Wars 3 - All are fairly similar, I would recommend only one of them if you decide to go this route.
  • Earthworm Jim 1/2 - I always liked EJ1 better than EJ2.

If I were to choose a couple from that list, my order of purchase would be:
  1. Super Mario RPG
  2. EJ1
  3. FF3
  4. Super Star Wars- whichever you want
  5. FF1
  6. EJ2

Other games I would seriously consider purchasing:
  • Mega Man 2/Mega Man X
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • Final Fantasy III
  • Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Mankind's true moral test,
is fundamental test
which lies deeply buried from view,
consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy.
And in this respect mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle,
a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it.

I'm one of those completionists who like to play the whole series, so if I got Mega Man I'd end up trying to play through from 1 to whatever number it's at now. Same with the Star Wars games.
  • Mega Man 2/Mega Man X (I've only really played one of the Mega Man games from the Gameboy years ago and the Mega Man 9 demo. Still worth it?)
  • Chrono Trigger (SNES or DS version?)
  • Donkey Kong Country (I still have this on the SNES)
  • Final Fantasy III (Already have the DS version)
  • Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Got the SNES version a few years ago)

Mega man is a series that is... hit or miss as far as quality goes, or at least in the "main" 1-10 series (IMO, sorry MM fanboys ), fortunately most of them can be completed in a single sitting (like most NES games). That said, Mega Man 2 is probably the best platform/shooter I've ever played to this day. The Mega Man X series has a little bit more of a story to it, if you're into that... If you're planning on playing all of them, you're in for a treat: There's a sh*tload of them.

Chrono Trigger - I would recommend the SNES version, it's definitely worth playing it on the larger screen, especially if you're into classic games.

So the additions that the DS version has doesn't add to the game? My screen isn't all that large, and it's very old so the picture isn't very clear...

Pfft 1000 points? It's still a freeware title online if you are still interested in playing xD. Megaman X and X2 are my favorites in the series. I do like X5-whatever because you get the option to play as Zero, but the originals seem to take the cake.

In a word... No. The second screen is basically a minimap (which is almost worthless because the game is more or less linear) or in combat it is a menu where you select what your move is.

I'm down to Super Mario RPG, both Earthworm Jim games and Chrono Trigger now... good choices?

I would rank them
4. Earthworm Jim 2
3. Super Mario RPG
2. Earthworm Jim 1
1. Chrono Trigger.

CT is still to this day one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

I think I'm on board with Captain Obvious. Chrono Trigger would definitely be a first buy for me.

Well, the total of all 4 is under 4000 points, so unless anyone has anything in mind that beats those and doesn't start me on a quest to beat every Mega Man game going...

If Megaman X1-2 are on there I would eventually look into those. They were my favorite Megaman games ever.
