L1 and R1 are what an Xbox 360 player would immediately recognize as a "bumper," while L2 and R2 would be "triggers" as you pull them. In fact, DS3 specifically changed the L2 and R2 buttons (from DS2, anyway) to mimic the Xbox 360's controller. If the buttons are swapped on PS3 games/versions, well... I think I'd be in Mal's camp there. Toying around with the controller that does feel better, but it's just very strange to have the controls set up like that after having dealt with the Xbox 360 controller -- the Xbox's Duke before that, and the Dreamcast controller before that -- for so long.

I didn't touch the FPS genre until 2006, when I picked up Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 on a whim. I still don't like the genre, but all my friends are into it so it can't be helped.

You have to actually pull them as opposed to tap.
You don't have to fully release them to fire again, though. They're effortless in that regard, and the size and curvature of the controller's handle lends itself well to doing that as you more naturally grip the controller.

Doesn't matter, still takes too long to fire. By the time an Xbox user can fire 3 times semi-auto, I can fire 10.

Can you hit a moving target like that, though? That's the question.

Just about everything I've played recently has penalized rapid-fire shooting. Probably as a means of artificially dealing with the ever-increasing number of people with modded and/or turbo controllers, but more power to ya if that works.

I really want to try this now.
Well it'll run you at least $100 for the XIM3. It feels pretty cheap though, especially since console games have aim assist. Aim assist+mouse and keyboard=WTF bro.
