I have to agree that it's fake. If it was true that you turned into Adult Link after a week, you couldn't take more than a week to play the game up to the Temple of TIme without changing. It'd totally screw up the game. And we wouldn't be finding out about it just now, eleven years after the release of the game!

Plus, with computer technology, he couldv'e easily typed in whatever he wanted the running man to say.

Story time!

In the early days of the OoT forum, a lot of people would post rumors about getting the Triforce, finding the sky temple, etc. All of them were rather outlandish and obviously fake, but people would still argue about whether they had any merit or not. People like Nic and I would refute those who claimed that it was possible to get the Triforce and find the sky temple and would shoot down all their methods. Then one day I decided to do a parody of a Triforce rumor by creating a rumor for an item that I made up called the doom hammer. I think I posted it in a thread about the Triforce or sky temple, and I said something about how the rumors about those things were just there to cover up something bigger, the doom hammer. I gave a bunch of crazy steps you had to take to get the doom hammer. Basically, it was an exaggerated version of the Triforce rumors to show how ridiculous they were. Then Nic decided to make a thread for rumors that he would write based on people's suggestions for made up items. That inspired me to do the same, and I created a thread for people to submit ideas for items they would like to hear rumors about. The rumors became long stories that would always take Link to some far off world and included a lot of humor and parody of the Zelda universe.

And yeah, I believe it was Realm who wrote the spork of doom rumor, though I don't remember who suggested it.

In the beginning there was Hawkju, who is in the OoT forum was called many things. Most of them snarky, some about cheese.

In this OoT forum at the beginning of time, there was the Triforce, though obtained in all previous console zeldas, appeared only as a gaping indent on the Quest Screen. Or not indent. This has actually been analyzed in some depth.

Many in these early days sought the Triforce, found through the Light Temple by doing various things - learning the Song of Sages from Kaeporra Gaeborra, finding the pegasus boots in the shrine in the haunted wasteland, unfreeze Zora's domain and get the Flippers from King Zora. And those are the saner ones. (Anyone with a brain knows that the Zora's flippers are obtained from the optional room in the Water Temple. >.>)

BigDaddy and Nic saw all these sad attempts to find the Triforce. So they decided to repeat tragedy as farce, sending players who couldn't read a thread title or first post out to find such mystical objects as the doom hammer, spork of doom, elemental quiver, and various objects of lore.

Then they ate cheezy. And hit n00bs such as little Inlé and ksd with the Cane of Somaria. And they saw that it was good.

Ah, yes, Hawkju. He used to rule with an iron fist in a velvet glove. He reached his peak in a thread in which people were arguing about whether one could beat the running man or not, and he rebuked them and started his post with, "No offense, but you are all very stupid." Soon, however, his antics became that of folly. His witty sayings became whimsical nonsense such as, "I dun no... lol." Truly, the joker had become the jokee.

Indeed. That was my favorite part.

I actually still have my rumor list saved in an old PM. It's a list of all the requested rumors that I hadn't got around to writing yet, though 1-4 on this list were completed. As you can see, there was a lot that I didn't get to before I stopped writing them. Also, notice how ridiculous some of the requests got near the bottom.

I met BigDaddy in real life. Like, had a conversation with him. Face to face. It was good times. This was...almost 4 1/2 years ago. We talked about gw people and sports and I don't remember what else. Also we ate bagels. I think they were free. I can't remember. Pretty sure they were free.

Another great thread here was the OoT party. It consisted of everyone in a giant race across Hyrule no one ever won because everyone did something stupid at every turn.

I think ksd also had a really good riddle/character based forum game. I can't remember it exactly though.
