Gaming News and Industry Discussion Forum Dos and Donts

Welcome to the new forum, everyone.

I'll be your MC, and here are a couple of guidelines as to what should be posted here and what should not be posted here.

Industry News/Trends - Anything dealing with the industry in general. "In general" being the key to this. If it's news that effects only one specific console, then it should be posted in that console's specific forum or in Console Combat so it may be promptly shat on.

What is acceptable in this category is news on trade shows, industry growth and trends, and anything that is not limited to a specific console. Some examples are articles pointing out that gaming has surpassed movies in terms of revenue, or articles comparing whats happening now to the video game crash of the 80s.

Gaming News - Again, news that would affect the gaming industry as a whole is what we want here. Hardware breakthroughs, and bigger and better technology is a great example of this.

Not limited to hardware though.. is the Valve Source vs Unreal Engine 3 battle heating up? Did a once exclusive company go third-party? Did EA think of another way to piss everybody off?

Post it here!

Gaming Culture - Did another maniac shoot up a school and is blaming Zombies Ate My Neighbors? Is there a new study that says video games help reduce sleep apnea? Are gamers finding new and better ways to sit on their asses and get paid? Did someone make a 50' tall working Virtual Boy out of a CD player and some chicken wire?

This is the place to post and discuss these phenomena. Anything cool and itneresting to us gamers is welcome here.

Hope this helps everyone get an idea of what I'd like this forum to become. It should be a fun, friendly place for game geeks to chillax and talk about the latest and greatest game news.

Are there specific "donts" or just everything that isn't a "do"?

There are some don'ts sprinkled in there my friend.. they're just extra-mysterious.

Basicly don't post anything that should be posted in an individual console forum or console combat. No "ps3 breaking sales reconds" threads or vs threads, etc.

Yeah me too.. I was going to push for it once I got re-elected to Smod, but that hasn't happened yet.

I must admit I was skeptical about how well this would work, but it has started very well.

I was also skeptical about the potential crossovers between Console Combat and Video Game Bashing, though it's clear that the forum is going to be distinct from those two. Good game.

Certainly.. anything dealing with the industry or anything that interests gamers as a whole is welcome here.

Glad to hear that, as I'm at the exact moment when I realise that my degree course wasn't all it was cracked up to be in terms of getting into the industry. The dream seems just as far off as it was 4 years ago, but hopefully someone here will have some sort of advice on what to do now.
