Before you go spend $45.00 on l4d, try and see if you can get a group of four together and buy the 4 pack. By doing it this way, you essentially end up getting an entire copy of the game for free. I know that a few of the people I play with are going to paypal the money to one guy and have him buy it. It's worth looking into if you have people that you know will pay you back.

Some Logistics:
The game becomes available November 17. A single copy will run $49.99 USD. Steam is offering a 10% pre-order discount, making a single copy $44.99. A 4-pack will be $149.99, pre-purchase $134.99. Getting in on a four pack now, opposed to waiting and buying a single copy once released will save each person:

AND a pre-purchased 4-pack, split 4 ways, would cost each individual $33.75, which (logicallly) also saves $16.24 from buying a single copy after release. So you could save no dollars, 5 dollars, or 16 dollars.
