Okay, I'm new to this whole thing, but I think I understand EVs pretty well now after reading the Serebii page. I'm still kinda confused on how to do any of this stuff though. I think I might've tried it once, but did something wrong lol. I'm guessing what you basically do is train a certain stat way more than the others? I just caught a Rotom in Platinum and want to try EV training:

Rotom Lv.20
HP: 54
Attack: 29
Defense: 40
SpAtk: 45
SpDef: 32
Speed: 46
Lax nature. Like to run.

If I'm right about the stat training thing, which one should I train?

Also, about IVs, I'm completely lost when it comes to this, so if someone could help explain this to me...that'd be nice:D. It sounds similar to EV.

There aren't really very many similarities between IVs and EVs. IVs are numbers ranging from 0-31 which are set as soon as you obtain your Pokémon. You can't change them without hacking your game. There is one IV for each stat. These are involved in the calculation of this stat.

Comparing:

IVs are set when you obtain the Pokémon, EVs always start at 0 change via training and some items.
IVs range from 0-31, EVs can be at a max of 255.
IVs have no collective limit, EVs can't be higher than 510 total.
IVs can be passed on in breeding, EVs cannot.
Both are involved in stat calculation.
Both are hidden numbers.

If possible, you should use the Secret Key to change Rotom's form. All the other forms have much better base stats, plus you have access to another attack depending on the form chosen.

Thanks Seerow.

No, the IVs and EVs will simply carry over no matter when you change its form.

No, the same attacks are still learned at the same levels.
