This is the Library, the home of all the special events. Various tournaments will be held here, so keep an eye out for them.

Visibility: Open
Card pick: Random/Full (see below)
Winnings: All
Board size: 3x3
Duplicates: Allow
Same: On
Plus: On
Minus: On
Combo: On
Sudden death: On

The card pick method is similar to what Cpezo suggested last year. You will start with five randomly selected cards from Lv6-10. All cards will be provided for you. When you defeat an opponent you will win their cards and will be able to use them in the later rounds.

The tournament will operate in a tier system. For this to work we need an even number of people (four is ok, six is great).

The grand prize for winning the tournament? All the cards you collect along the way.

Please sign up and participate. The tournament will begin when enough people have joined.

So, with the win-all-their-active-cards, I take it that's permanent? Since if so, I dunno, I think it'll be a little risky, since I'll probably get paired with you, BYATLLW, and get thrashed :D

m4tt
January 25th, 2010, 06:23 AM
The cards you'll be playing with will be provided for you so you don't lose anything by entering.

Major Isoor
January 25th, 2010, 08:17 AM
Ah, ok - well, in that case, I'll join :D So, will you be changing the thread's title when it starts? Since I'd hate to miss it..

Cpezo
January 25th, 2010, 04:43 PM
I'm in! I'm glad to see we are doing this now. He can't since he's not a mod anymore and it's been so long. But I'll give you a reminder when it starts up.

Mystic Wolf

Since I don't have to risk all my other cards, I'll play. Even though I'll wind up by losing anyway. :chuckle:

m4tt
January 27th, 2010, 06:36 AM
All right, that's four competitors so this tournament will be going ahead. I'll wait until the end of the week to see if anyone else wants to join, then we'll get things rolling.

Cpezo
January 27th, 2010, 06:29 PM
Experience is always good though.

Is it going to be a double or single-elimination tournament?

Also, is 1st place the only person that gets a prize?

m4tt
January 28th, 2010, 03:15 PM
There are four players at the moment so there would be two matches with the winners going head to head in the final. As there aren't many people there is only one prize.

January 28th, 2010, 06:16 PM
hey, i am rearing my head again. Ill join if someone else wants to and it would make an even number.

Cpezo
January 28th, 2010, 07:47 PM
Just join. It's good to have you back. I'm sure we can find one more.

dragonsrule
January 28th, 2010, 09:38 PM
I don't want to throw the numbers for the trourney off.

Cpezo
January 28th, 2010, 10:32 PM
Ya, but just sign up and we can find more so that it's even again.

What if you don't sign up, and then 2 people sign up, one right after the other? Then what?

dragonsrule
January 29th, 2010, 12:23 PM
alright, ill sign up assuming BYATLLW doesn't mind

m4tt
January 29th, 2010, 01:33 PM
I don't mind at all. I've PM'd the remaining players to let them know there is a place left, so hopefully we'll have six by the end of the week.

Cpezo
January 29th, 2010, 07:43 PM
Hopefully Mystic Wolf can get her sister in here or we can find someone else. My brother wont play.

Mystic Wolf
January 30th, 2010, 11:47 AM
I doubt very much if she would play, since it's not something she's normally interested in. That and she would need more help than I do.

Cpezo
January 30th, 2010, 12:51 PM
Alright. I just realized that AR isn't signed up for this yet. I'll tell her to sign up.

If you look at the TT forum you'll see lots of matches have been set up. Because we have five players I've had to change the layout of the first round, but this does mean that the eventual winner will have a much larger prize. I'll be keeping note of the score lines, similar to the last tournament, and the two with the most wins or highest point margin will proceed to the final.

Cpezo

Good luck everyone! I'll see you in the finals Matt. jk. lol.

I wont do good if I keep playing like I have been.

February 1st, 2010, 08:04 PM
so... can you just out-line real quick how the rounds are gonna work. is it gonna be tier based or is it just these matches and then a final?

AmphidorasRayne

Cpezo

Cpezo

I just hope that everyone sticks around this time instead of just randomly disappearing. It would be nice if Tom (Eye) would actually help us with moving the old threads and stuff to the archive. But oh well.

AmphidorasRayne
February 1st, 2010, 10:06 PM

so i guess i'll be waiting for a response for the ok to join

Cpezo
February 1st, 2010, 10:19 PM
Well, I knew Matts, because of his old name. Toms because of the sports forum and poker. You might know mine from my old name (Cody! was my old name).

AmphidorasRayne
February 1st, 2010, 10:42 PM
oh, i just thought when ppl do that there just useing a random name like Alice! lol

Cpezo
February 1st, 2010, 11:19 PM
Alice's is random. But you could also look in the Yearbook to see people's real names. Like Jeffie!'s isn't actually Jeff.

m4tt
February 3rd, 2010, 10:05 AM
I'll let Amphi join. I'm setting her matches up now. Please don't forget about them! :)

February 3rd, 2010, 10:13 AM
yay! i'll try my best, no regrets

m4tt
February 3rd, 2010, 05:55 PM
If you turn your attention to the first post you'll see the score table. The two people at the top of this table when all the matches have been completed will battle it out for the grand prize.

Cpezo
February 3rd, 2010, 09:13 PM
I'm doing pretty good so far in this tourney.

Cpezo
February 5th, 2010, 02:53 PM
3-1 with +8 with only one game left for me.

Isoor, Rayne, and BYATLLW are the only ones who can still finish ahead of me in the point standings.

Hey, um, how are you going to do tiebreakers?

First it will be the difference in all the matches combined, right? And then will it be whoever won between 2 people?

m4tt
February 5th, 2010, 05:40 PM
It will be based on points difference first. If that is the same, there will be another match to decide second and third place.

Cpezo
February 5th, 2010, 06:14 PM
Oh, ok. So the top 3 all get a prize? But there will be a finals between the top 2 for sure?

m4tt
February 5th, 2010, 06:24 PM
Only first place gets the prize. The final is between the persons placed first and second so in the event of a tie between second and third, another match will be required to distinguish between them.

Cpezo
February 5th, 2010, 06:38 PM
Oh, ok. That makes more sense. Cool. Thanks for that. So, what exactly will the winner be getting?

dragonsrule
February 5th, 2010, 06:47 PM
I believe he said you get all the cards you collect allong the way.

Cpezo
February 5th, 2010, 06:48 PM
I thought that's what it was going to be, but the structure is kinda weird. So, I don't know.

m4tt
February 10th, 2010, 06:27 AM
I know it's a little late in the game to be changing things, but I've thought about the structure some more. The idea of a final made sense when it was going to be a knock-out tournament, but it doesn't seem necessary now because of the score table and the fact we've already played one another.

What I propose is the person at the top of the table gets the grand prize (that is, the cards of the people they have defeated) while everyone else keeps the cards they were given. A thank you for participating all the way through and a reward for your efforts.

Cpezo
February 11th, 2010, 07:56 PM
I just realized how important my last game is. My only current loss is from Isoor. BYATLLW's only loss is from me. If I lose this last match 6-4, then me and Isoor will play in a game to decide who plays in the final.

Nvm. Matt, why don't we still just play the final, and then the winner gets the prize?

Just give each person 5 or 2 more random cards so that they have 10 or 7 to play with. It will make it a little bit more challenging I think.

Major Isoor
March 2nd, 2010, 05:58 AM
Oh hang on, (yeah, I didn't know the results were posted in here - title was misleading :P) so, in the end - correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just asking this to be certain, etc - m4tt came undisputedly first, then Cpezo, dragonsrule and myself drew second. (or are we classified what place we're in, by the table up top - what's the "+" and "-" parts talking about, BTW?)

On a side note; so the new structure means everyone who played gets to keep the cards they used? If so, cool, that's fair enough! :D

m4tt
March 2nd, 2010, 06:24 AM
The + and - columns are the points for and against. Say you win 7-3. You would have 7 +, 3 - and a Difference of +4. And yes, I use them to rank you if you have the same number of wins and loses.

The positions aren't confirmed at the moment. If Amphi wins her match with Cpezo by 6-4, he'll be joint second. If he loses by more, you'll be second. If he wins, you'll be third. It doesn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things, but it's nice to know where you've finished.

Major Isoor
March 2nd, 2010, 04:57 PM
Ah, ok then, I had a suspicion that's what it meant, but couldn't be sure! Well, I guess I'll have to stick around and see where Cpezo ends up on the charts! :D

Cpezo
March 2nd, 2010, 07:59 PM
Well, Since she disappeared again. I win! I would've won anyway in the 3rd sudden death I think. haha.

Congratulation and thanks to all those who took part. I'll add your cards and update the register in a second.

I think I'll hand the reigns to someone else for Tournament 4. Who has an idea they want to try out?

Cpezo
March 3rd, 2010, 06:36 PM
So I don't get a differential point mark for winning by forfeit?

m4tt
March 5th, 2010, 11:45 AM
In past tournaments a win by inactivity has always been treated in the same way as a draw (except the winner gets a win and the loser gets a loss, of course). A win by forfeit is no different.

Cpezo
March 5th, 2010, 02:13 PM
Well, that sucks. Oh well.

Congratz to M4tt on winning this tournament.
