Salvia Divinorum (a LEGAL high, at least in my state)

So here's the skinny - I've done some "experimenting" in my life, as well as some illicit substances, nothing more harmful than a certain herb, but I'm reading and hearing a lot about this whole Salvia thing - psychoactive reactions, the whole nine-yards, and it's a cheap albeit short high.
Being familiar with psychoactive drugs, especially a certain mushroom that is rather rampant in the South, I'd like a first-hand description of how Salvia feels, because I'm considering checking it out.... so anyone with experience, especially seeing how I'm sitting in a state where it's PERFECTLY LEGAL... give me the skinny - how potent should I use my first time, what does it feel like, etc?

its a really short lasting high feeling.... i mean, a little bit of delirium may ensue, but it mostly gets you real lightheaded and feeling like you just smoked something else....

I think I've heard of it from a TV show... Possibly NCIS... Or Veronica Mars... I'm not quite sure which. That's all I know, though. I don't experiment with any kind of substances legal or otherwise...

Isn't this forum for legal items to be discussed for those of age? Salvia is legal in most states even if it barely does anything and it gives you a headache in the experiences I have witnessed

I've seen videos of people doing it online, but i never have, nor wanted to experience it myself. The only thing i've learned from the videos is that you'd be hallucinating like hell. I'm assuming the best way to experience it is to have a sober buddy present so you don't do something to **** yourself over.

A while back they had a full page article in the local paper about salvia, talking about the dangers and legality of it. I really have no opinion on smoking salvia divinorum except caveat emptor. If someone wants to smoke it, I'd agree with Heretic Monkey, have someone there to make sure you don't do something you'd regret doing.

Salvia is not worth it. It's about a 30 sec-1.25 min trip, and sure, it's a fun ride, but it's not really worth it. Too high a cost for too little of an output. At least, dont pay for it for yourself. If a buddy is offering some up, then it's up to you to try it.

Oh yeah, the aftertaste is HORRIBLE. Be sure to have something on hand to kill it.

i never said you had to have come in contact with it, or even known someone who did it. i was just shocked that living in texas, you would not even know what it was seeing as it is a desert plant and found a lot in mexico and in surrounding states and is not illegal in your state.

I was under the impression that indeed it IS for discussion by people over the age of 21 of legal substances, which is the reasoning behind by statement of "a LEGAL high, or at least in my state" in the subject.

I live in the city... Quite far from Mexico... And I don't like the outdoors (it's too hot down here). Plus, I didn't really go out often when I was younger, hence why I was on here so often back then. :chuckle: I'm only really familiar with one particular plant because of its distinct aroma, but otherwise, I'd be completely clueless.

OK, I'm certainly not a moderator here, but the Salvia Divinorum argument seems to have some of the same things in common with Everclear - while the 151-proof version of it is generally legal anywhere in the US, the 190-proof version is illegal in a number of states. Salvia's status is similar; according to the Wikipedia article on it, only ten states outright ban it currently.

While it is being considered for ban in several other states, until the law passes the legislature and is signed (or has its veto overridden), it's not currently illegal, and the US itself doesn't have it as a banned (or even controlled) substance at the federal level - this coming from the DoJ's website - so the answer to that question, I would think, boils down to whether or not state law is being enforced here, and if so, which state (since there are potentially two states that apply here).

That aside, I honestly have not heard of it, though I doubt I would try it if only because I'm not horribly wild about such things. In any case, I hold the same general opinion mj02 has on it - make sure you know what you're getting into before you take the plunge.

everclear is friggin awesome though.... in the 190 proof form. in florida, its illegal to sell anything over 150 proof.... so the 151 version is banned there also...

however, in GA, you can buy moonshine from any liquor store.

I wouldn't waste my time with the Salvia. It's short and leaves a monstrous headache to enjoy later. my two cents.

This topic is a little over two weeks old, but I thought I would bump it with some extensive insight in my persoanl expirence with this.

My friend bought Salvia from a store a month or so ago. I tried it, and it was certainly something else. There are different "x" amount/potency of Salvia to my undertsanding. I tried it once before a long while ago, and that was 20x. The more recent time was 50x.

The first time I tried it, the 20x, it looked like the tiles on the floor were going up and down. My friends were standing on the tiles, and I thoght they were gonna fall off, but I wasn't that scared or alarmed. More like a slight concern. My friend asked me how I felt I said "I feel like this" then putting my hands in front of me, and then waving them up and down one then the other. I don't why I did that, but I guess it was the best description of what I was feeling at the time, heh. It lasted like 3-4 mins, and I didn't have a headache or feel messed up. I just started questioning everything I was looking at for a few mins, not sure if it was over.

Second one the 50x was much much MUCH more intense, and lasted much longer too, about 10 mins. I took the Salvia, I then started to see my friend's eyes split into four eyes, and his smile became super huge. For an instant I was hella scared, but for some reason I started to think it was really funny. I then felt like a dream, a waking dream, and my perception of time went out the window. I would look at things and the space between them and see time, which doesn't make any sense, but whatever, best I can describe that part. I couldn't talk, communication by normal means become lost to me, I felt like I was trying to connect to everything with my mind, and in that trying to communicate. I also felt like I was at different places at different times but at the same time. Reason behind that I think is because my conscience self, and sub-conscience, and my ego just exploded and and went in different direction. From the view of my friends, I got up and walked over to the outside wall at my firends house. I then got up against it and rolled across it while standing. I did this around half the house, then I got stuck at some gate. At this point I looked back and saw my friends following me. There were about four of them, but it looked like they went on forever. Speech slowly came back to me and I said "STOP FOLLOWING ME!" thinking there were millions of people doing nothing but following me. I realise then the person right in front of me is my friend, and I became calm again. They opened the gate and then I saw a crazy plant. I for some weird reason felt like that plant was important, idk why, but I was trying to like dive into it or something, like I wanted to merge with it. Over all I like I was being pulled in certain direction. I also feel like there is something out there I must find out or know, and I didn't know what it was. I then realised I was looking for everything, and I was being pulled in every direction. Same after effects, no headache, but hella catious about everything, waiting to see it was truly over.

That's the best I can describe. I plan on taking it one more time in my life, a higher dose, then never again. Also you get thrown into this werid world hella fast, like 10 secs after you hit it. If you have trouble with letting go or going outside your comfert zone, I don't recommend it.

A friend of mine tried it and he said he was not good in any way, he was hella scared the whole time, seeing flesh demons in everything or something. Another friend told me it was awesome and it felt like they were falling forever and turing into computer data. To my understanding it's totally different for every person, depending on how you feel when you take it, who you are with, what they do, and where you are.

It goes up to 160x I think as a side not. Also with my expirence with it, I am actually pretty amazed it's legal at all. Then again, it's kinda short. I don't know how much it costs my friends would buy it, so Idk.

Kavva-Kavva is cheaper...not quite as strong, but lasts longer, and it's legal everywhere. Not to mention you can buy it at your local grocery store.
