I am playing Platinum and really could use some team help. I can't bet Cyrus so I can go any further until I fix my team.
1. Infernape
Flamethrower
Grass Knot (not sure about this one)
Flare Blitz
Hidden Power or Blast Burn (not sure about this one)
* 2. Staraptor
Fly
Close Combat
Brave Bird
Roost
* 3. Pikachu
Volt Tackle
Thunder Punch
Charge Beam
Brick Break
4. Floatzel
Surf
Crunch
Aqua Jet (can be changed)
Ice Fang
5. Roserade
Cut (can be changed)
Toxic Spikes
Magical Leaf
Giga Drain (can be changed)
6. Gengar
Sucker Punch
Shadow Punch
Payback (can be changed)
Shadow Ball
* Staraptor and Pickachu moves are pretty much set. I don't really want to change them unless there are suggestions for better moves. I will take any and all suggestions about those 2.
For the rest of them I would like some ideas for better pokemon or better move set for them. I am also thinking about starting over and choosing a different team. The only thing I would use Pikachu and Staraptor for different team. So new ideas for another team would also be appreciated. B.t.w. These are for all in game play. Thanks!!

Just a note, I dont have time for a full rate but try to only have only one move per attacking type on each pokemon. It is repetitive to have to moves of the same type and does not accomplish anything. This is mainly concerning Pikachu and Gengar.

If I were you, I'd give Infernape Close Combat instead of Hidden Power or Blast Burn, since it's a fighting type.
On Pikachu, I'd replace Charge Beam with Thunder Wave.
On Roserade, I'd give it Sludge Bomb.
I'd give Gengar Toxic and Hypnosis instead of Sucker Punch and Shadow Ball.

Grass Knot is an excellent move on Infernape as it allows him to hit those ground and water types that will otherwise ruin his sweep. For the last slot, Close Combat would be a good choice as its high base power, STAB and will give you good converge with your other moves.
I'd get rid of Cut on Roserade and replace it with, well, anything really. Sludge Bomb might be a good choice. Also, if you can, try Leaf Storm over Magical Leaf or Giga Drain.
As for Pikachu and Gengar, see if you can put some different type moves on them. For example, I know that Gengar can learn Energy Ball and Thunderbolt. They'll be excellent on him if you can spare the TMs.
Otherwise, it's pretty good for in-game.

Shur, you could put B.B. in bcuz it gets a great STAB bonus, plus switch if you K.O. the target, and switch back after a 2nd K.O.

Blast Burn isn't that great, considering the PP usage. I have it on my Infernape, but I'm planning on changing it.

Yes but in the time it takes you to recharge you could have fired off two attacks that make more damage.

You gave Pikachu 3 Electric moves but not its best one? Get rid of all 3 and reteach it Thunderbolt. Either evolve it or give it a Light Ball (glass cannon strategy).
For its other moves, good choices include Surf (Battle Revolution Pikachu only), Grass Knot (TM, only if unable or unwilling to get Surf), Thunderwave, Double Team (in-game teams only), Focus Blast (TM for Raichu only, get rid of Brick Break), Signal Beam (Move Tutor), and Magnet Rise (Move Tutor).

Oh yeah, like overheat's the best move... then again, there are a few good moves, such as... umm... ok, I can't think of another good move, sue me... Here's a start, 10 million Poké!

I decided on moves for my pokemon. Thank you!
I do need some more help with a few other pokemon. I don't have any moves in mind for these pokemon. All for in game play. I would like suggestions for movesets for:
Torterra
Empleon
Glaceon
Leafeon
Mismagius
Skuntank
Houndoom
I know I probably should double post but I can edit the other one.
I do have a problem with the final move for Gengar and Infernape. Need some advice.
Gengar
Energy Ball
Shadow Punch
Dark Pulse
Shadow Claw,Toxic or Thunderbolt (which would be the best one)
Infernape
Flamethrower
Grass Knot
Flare Blitz
Close Combat ( I am not sure what move to put here. Would it be better on Infernape or Staraptor? If on Infernape, what would be a good replacement on Staraptor then?)

Shadow Claw should be used instead of Shadow Punch. You should also get rid of Dark Pulse as Ghost and Dark attacks have the same super effective type coverage (Ghost and Psychic). Go with Energy Ball, Shadow Claw, Thunderbolt, and Toxic.
Just use Close Combat on both of them.

Shadow Ball is definitely better than Shadow Claw on Gengar, and he has substantially higher SAtk than Atk. Standard sort of Gengar these days is Shadow Ball, Thunder Bolt, Focus Blast, and Hypnosis (or Trick with Choice Specs/Scarf equipped). Shadow Ball and Focus Blast together are not resisted by any Pokémon.
There's no reason not to use Close Combat on both Staraptor and Infernape unless you already have another physical Fighting move in your squad.
