Supporter, sweeper, wall, tank, and others that you might hear people using when referring to Pokémon, are competitive Pokémon battling jargon terms - they're words that the Pokémon communities invented (or borrowed) and applied to Pokémon so that others might better understand their meaning. If you've never been around a Pokémon community before, I'm not surprised you've never heard of them - they aren't mentioned in the games at all. I'll try and give you a brief rundown:
Sweeper – A Pokémon designed to KO lots of stuff. Usually special or physical. Powerful and fast (or with a couple of priority moves). Dragon Dance Salamence is an example of a physical sweeper. Skymin (aka Shaymin Sky Forme) is an example of a special sweeper.
Tank – A Pokémon which is designed both to take hits and to dish them out. Usually special or physical, referring to the moves it is designed to take. Snorlax is a special tank, because it can take special moves and can dish out damage with physical attacks. Note a Pokémon does not necessarily have to deal the same type of damage as it takes.
Wall – A Pokémon designed to take hits. Walls are usually special or physical and are often also supporters due to their tendency to have relatively low attacking stats. Blissey is an example of a special wall. Skarmory is an example of a physical wall.
Wall breaker – A Pokémon designed to attack from both the physical and special ends of the spectrum in order to prevent itself from being walled. An example is Infernape, because Close Combat means most special walls lose, and Flamethrower and Grass Knot means most physical walls lose.
Supporter – A Pokémon designed to aid the team in some way without using many (if any) attacking moves. This is achieved with moves such as Reflect, Light Screen, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, Toxic, Wish, Aromatherapy, Heal Bell, Rapid Spin, and others.
