Question: Should I get platinum?

I am an old school Pokemon fan and my little cousin got me thinking about Pokemon. How much is this game like Yellow? Are the original Pokemon in this game?
Also i need a new game for my DS

Double Post!
The 6 Pokemon that i care about are carmander, squrtile, bulbasore, abra, machop, and geodude,
Are these 6 in the game? And can i evlove them all the way without doing weird thing like in yellow?

You can not get the three starters you mentioned in Platinum and they must be traded. However, you can catch the other three pokemon you mentioned but to evolve those three you must trade them.

It's easy to get Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle (or anything else) in trades if you have a wireless Internet connection.

Can anyone help me with this?

As the people said before, the starter Pokemon from the earlier generations of the Pokémon games can only be obtained via trading, but the others can be caught in-game.

Do you know all the details of your network? If your network isn't showing up when you search for networks your network is probably set to not show up unless the person searching knows what they're looking for. In which case you should be able to manually fill in the details in one of the options under the wireless connection options on your DS. IF you fill in the correct details and it still doesn't work, chances are your network's password encryption is not WEP, which is the only encryption the DS can deal with. If this is the case, you will have to either find someone else whose network you can use, visit a hotspot (more information on these on the Nintendo WiFi website), or get a USB WiFi Adaptor (EDIT: or see the post below ;)).

You could also unencrypt your connection or change it to WEP encrytion.
