Black and Tan (yeah, not a single beer, but whatever, delicious)
Yuengling (always good...can never get it in MA...)

Sweetwater 420- good bite to it, brewed in Atlanta
Sam Adams Octoberfest- I really wish this wasn't seasonal
Sam Adams Summer Ale- ditto for this but its here now!
Harpoon Celtic Ale- I picked this up a month or so ago and loved it.
Cable Car Amber Ale- Very smooth. Not strong, goes great with a meal.
Sam Adams Cherry Wheat- The first beer I bought when I turned 21, love it and they get better with each one.

I'll think of more later

I'm not really big on beers either, but if I do drink them it'll either be Guinness or Stella Artois.

I had a case of Corona sitting around for about 2 years collecting dust because after one bottle I was done. That tastes like piss and I eventually just poured all of it down the sink.

stella is piss.

i'm more of a brown ale guy, but if i had to have something else, the darker the better.

no particular order for my beers:

newcastle brown ale
sam adams boston ale
three philosophers
stone smoked porter
arrogant bastard ale

Blue Moon

****in right! Do you favor any of the styles over the other? Personally my favorite is the Honey Moon Summer Ale, but I love the Spring and Winter as well as the "normal" one. I haven't tried the Pumpkin one yet though, so...

Stella Artois

My wife made me try this, stating "it's the beer of the Chavs, it's the worst beer ever" and she was right! I don't know how you stand it :chuckle:

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat

Hell to the yeah

My favorite beers happen to be:

Blue Moon
Cherry Wheat
Yuengling
Miller Chill (Hey it's good!)
Lindenkugel's Raspberry Ale

Good stuff.

My main go to would be Rickard's Red, but I can rock and roll with just about anything.

Although I have been known to go and buy the raunchiest beers I can find in the store, but that is usually only for softball games/camping.

I've never actually done that, I've always just drunk it straight.

How much of a difference does the orange make?

Its not a huge difference, but its definitely noticeable, and it makes it extra delicious.

And by eat the peel, I didn't mean the outside of it, my bad.

I'm not a big fan of fruit in beer. I've tried lime in a couple of mexican beers (corona, dos equis amber, etc) and never really liked it. Blue moon is alright, just a little too fruity for me to enjoy on a regular basis.

Yes, even the Irish red. Hell, I've got a sixer of their Raspberry wheat in my fridge right now, next to some Corona and Dos Equis for Cinco de Mayo. I tried some Sam Adams Triple Bock once upon a time. I'm not sure if they even make it any more, but that stuff was hard to drink. It came in an 8oz blue bottle with a cork, and it wasn't carbonated. Had about the same consistency of motor oil, but I think the motor oil might have tasted better, but I would still drink it again.

What have you got against Heineken? Hell, Pabst Blue Ribbon wouldn't be too far down on my list.

Newcastle is great, when I can find it.

Unfortunately, I live in bum**** hickville, and 80% of the beer shelves consist of Budweiser, Miller high life, and other **** beers with "ice" in the name.

Heineken, Guinness or Corona is also acceptable.

We stopped off in Ireland on the way back from a deployment to Iraq, and I got to have my first beer in half a year, a Guiness from the nearby port bar.

Best beer I ever had.

I could be wrong on this, but someone told me once that each state has a board that determines what beers the local stores can sell. There have been so many times that I have found a great beer while traveling, and couldn't get it at home, so I can sorta buy it.

I'm a big fan of the sam adams summer ale. Unfiltered wheat beer. I swear to god I think Tim Koch mugged god to get those paradise hops. It's the only explanation. I can (and often do) drink that all day, every day during the summer. THIS summer however, I'm going to just go get a keg of it to put in the kegerator. It will save so much time.

Other than the sam adam's beers, (which I like because they actually taste like ****ing BEER... I'm looking at you anything made by anheuser-busch), I thoroughly enjoy DogFishHead beers. Same sort of thing as sam adam's, but not quite as refined on the use of the extra hoppiness. Still great though. If neither of those options are available, I'll go with a guiness if they have it on draft, newcastle if they don't. Other than that, I'm a liquor man. (except vodka. we all have that one particular liquor we'd like to never have to smell again, and if you don't personally have one, you haven't been drinking long enough. Same story as it always is. Too high a proof, too short of a timeframe, empty stomach, projectile vomiting. You know the deal. In this case it was Absolut 100 proof. 1 liter bottle... ugh...) So I'm usually the guy at the bar who's on his fifth jameson (water back, no rocks) by the time everyone else decides that their going to start taking a piss every 7 minutes because they're drinking cheap beer that takes forever to tack a buzz on with.

...that's when it's time to start playing darts for drinks. Heh.

Harpoon UFO Hefeweizen is also a pretty good, widely available (i think) unfiltered beer.

Anyone else had Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner? I was surprised as hell that a pilsner could have such a strong flavor. At first i didn't like it all that much, but after a couple of sips, i realized it was one of the best beers i've ever had.

A few of the brothers in the Maine chapter of my fraternity have a house with shelves going around near the ceiling of the kitchen and living room. These shelves are holding empties (several hundred), one kind of each beer they've tried. There are no multiple flavors.

If you like hoppiness, try Arrogant Bastard Ale. Completely changed my opinion on Ales entirely. In my humble opinion, it has the best hoppiness of any non-Sam Adams brew.
Anyone else had Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner?
I haven't tried that one yet, but I used Hallertau hops in the last Dopple Bock, and the last Pilsner that I brewed, and it turned out so well, I ended up buying some Hop rhizomes and planted them a few weeks ago. I'm not holding out too much hope, since it is probably too hot here, but for twenty bucks, even if I get a half yield from each plant, I'll still have about forty pounds of hops for when I start brewing lagers in the fall (focusing on ales for the summer). In short, hallertau are some of the best damn hops.

I personally don't have a problem with american beers as long as they're not "THE ALL AMERICAN, NASCAR-SUPPORTING, 24-CANS FOR $10" type of beers. Sam adams, Breckenridge, Starr Hill, Red Hook, and (to a lesser extent) Flying Dog are all very good, widely available (i think) american brewers with multiple flavors and brews.

You're not getting the difference between "American beer" and "American Style beer"

Sams is an American brewed beer, but it is not American Style (I'm going with terms that those american style beers use in their commercials, I think it was Miller Light advertising that they have won in beer tasting competitions the round for "Best American Beer" several years or something, and then you look at Sam Adams and they have awards as well, but in categories that are not "American Beer")

I freely admit to liking Bud Light, but I will also be the first to tell you that a host of other American beers are downright awful. I don't understand how anyone can drink Natty Light, it is positively one of the grossest things I've ever had, yet I know people who have drunk the stuff like water...ugh.

Coors, Miller Lite, pretty bad as well. Bleh.

But Budweiser/Bud Light is pretty drinkable I think, at least if you don't compare them to, say stuff like Sam Adams or what have you.

I did try Bud Light Lime, however, and didn't like that. Miller Chill is far superior if you can get into the whole lime in beer thing.

German beers are by far the best due to the Reinheitsgebot. Eisbock beer is pretty good, I'm impartial to it but everyone else I know who's tried it has fallen in love with it, plus being about 9-15% means it's a good way to get hammered, espcially seeing as it's served in litre and 2 litre mugs.

When I was 20, my friends and I decided to take a full swig of beer whenever nothing happened in a baseball game (all avid baseball fans). Within 90 minutes, I had put away 16 beers. That was the worst night of my life.

Holy **** that's a lot of beer.

Why the hell did you not think that was a bad idea? I mean, I loved playing baseball as a kid, but watching baseball can be pretty damn boring sometimes...:P

Not like the NFL where there is always something happening, heh.

I'm glad I'm home for a week because I stopped in flippin' WINN DIXIE and found the Blackberry Witbier. Absolutely delicious but I was expected more of a bite. Definitely good though.

Yuengling (always good...can never get it in MA...)

Yuengling is okay. Everybody drinks that stuff around here because the brewery is literally in my backyard. :x

You're not missing much. It's my cheap beer of choice, but it's still cheap (re: taste) beer.

I don't think I've had it in a long while, and my tastes for beer have changed since the last time I had it. So who knows at this point.

I had a beer-tasting party for my college graduation, and man it was fun, and there were some pretty good ones too.

Tried Red Stripe for the first time, I was surprised that this was actually good. Don't know why I assumed it would be bad, just was surprised it was tasty.

Estrella, a Spanish beer was also really tasty, nice and smooth as it went down. Dos Equis also surprised in this category, and I also thought this one would not be that great.

Same for LaBatt Blue, I always assumed this was just a cheap Canadian beer, but it was very tasty.

Worst beer was a tie between one called Bavaria and one called DreamWeaver. I honestly can't remember why they were so bad, but I know those were the worst on our list.

I will try to get the full list if anyone is interested, but I don't have it on me now :^:

Many Many moons age, Bennigans used to have this "Beers of the World" club, and they would carry a huge selection of beers, and you would swipe your card, and get points for how many different kinds you had tried. They had some good ones too.

I've had estrella before, and it was definitely on the low end of my personal scale. Dos Equis is a good mexican lager though, and i thoroughly recommend Dos Equis Amber.

I would love that, although drinking that much beer at a restaurant/bar would probably get expensive...

I was in New York the other night and went to some Irish pub called McSorleys (the oldest one in Manhattan I think). They have, hands down, the best dark ale I have ever had in my life. Absolutely delicious stuff.

Damn, and I complain about the 2AM closing in Ann Arbor. That sucks...

We would go there after work all the time, and start off with one or two of the good beers, then switch to the crap beer, so it wasn't too expensive. I had gotten up to 73 out of 100 before we quit going there. Went on a date with one of the waitresses, it was all bad, and she was psycho too, so that ended that.

A group of us had gone to Playa Del Carmen, Just south of Cancun, and when we left the bar after one particularly brutal binge, the sun was up, and the locals were heading to work. I have no idea when/if the bar actually closed. There was a bar in Albuquerque that catered to the night shift workers at a local semiconductor plant, and they had a 7AM happy hour.

Which is the hour at which I must get up to take my wife to work until she learns to drive a damn car.

It's not anymore here, and even then, getting up to drive in said dark doesn't make it any easier for those of us trying not to fall asleep while behind the wheel of a car...

7AM i when I'll be on my way to work most of the time unfortunately. Starting in June that is...hopefully I'll be able to move closer soon, so I can get up at 7 and still make it to work for 8, instead of getting up at 5:30 to get to work for 8

Back when I was working the Graveyard shift, I used to have the same problem. I down right resented sunrise.
