What are your opinions on this band? I just discovered them and I like them quite a bit, although I must confess that I loath Chris Cornell's lyrics with a vengeance.

I believe the general concensus here is that they're repetitive and formulaic after reading a few threads where they were discussed.

I'll take a hit and say that I think they're great. Their self-titled is one of modern rock's best albums.

That's not completely true. Their music sounds quite different album to album.

A lot worse than RATM.

I like some of their stuff, but a lot of their songs that hit the mainstream weren't that great.

Their album Revelations was my favorite. The lyrics are not good, though.

Nice musicianship though.

Doesn't Remind Me has a great solo.

Doesn't remind me is actually my favorite song by them. I like a few other ones too, but saying their lyrics aren't that great hits it right on the head.

I don't know, some of their lyrics (Like A Stone; I Am The Highway) are really deep and thought-inspiring... but some of them are just plain boring..
regardless, I find them to be an engaging listen... if nothing but for hearing the interplay between the guys from RATM with another musician's input.

Audioslave's first album was actually pretty good but pretty much any Audioslave album released afterwards is worthless

Excuse me while I digress for a second, but I found my copy of RATM's first record the other night, my VINYL copy lol... my mother and I listened to it, which was cool, cuz I got to expose her to one of my favorite bands. She always liked Audioslave, but never knew where the guys came from.
