After American Idiot I was hoping for a return to the warning type sound. this article hints a little at comparing them to the who which is something I kind of feared would happen as they are now geared towards the rock opera thing.

I know they are highly influenced by the who which is great but with a second rock opera I fear they may be accused of riding coattails

Read the review. It sounds like they're really just trying to imitate the whole societal criticism thing which, to be honest, is really getting kind of old now.

NB: By societal criticism I mean the whole "f*ck the Government its so corrupt" movement.

Well, on this one I hear they are leaning towards organized religion. They really didn't have a cause before american idiot and to be honest greenday was one of the first to get on about the bush administration. Them, incubus, foo fighters nofx and a few others kind a spearheaded the bush sucks gig.

I'm gonna be picking this album up regardless. I thought American Idiot had more than a few good tracks (nothing compared to say Warning or Dookie), and they'll always be one of my guilty pleasures musically.
