Both of their albums are virtually required daily listening for me, and I think we've got a few fans around here. Let the love fest begin.

Sigh. I feel like a broken record here.

Why are they a required daily listening for you? What are your favorite songs/albums? What should people who have never heard them check out first?

I just listened to Red hands from youtube, I didn't quite like what I heard. Can you give the name of your favourite song, so I can listen?

What kind of music do you like, mark HRR?

Their collection is extremely varied, so I can give you a better song recommendation based on what you like.

Anyways, Act III is written and recording is supposed to be finished by the end of this month. Coming out in May/June. I am so insanely exited.

Well, I used to be a real metal head. But since I've started to get guitar lessons I've become a really big Chili peppers fan. I'm still a bit of a metal head though.

Then I could see you not really being into them a whole lot.

Pretty much anything off their first album Act I: The Lake South, the River North is fair game. My preferred songs are 1878 and The Pimp and the Priest. Their second album, Act II: The Meaning of, and all Things Regarding Ms. Leading, is a more grandiose effort. It's got a lot more orchestration and it's also got more of a progressive vibe (there are big buildups and medleys and even a few odd time-signatures). My recommended songs would be The Lake and the River (heck, the whole opening medley of that album, tracks two through five, are great), Smiling Swine, and The Bitter Suite I & II: Meeting Ms. Leading/Through the Dime.

If you need a song to hook you, try The Church and the Dime or City Escape (they're the heaviest) and if you like that, then check out some of the others.

Crowing, I swear all my threads sit empty and ignored until you pop up to post in them. I had no idea Act III was going to be finished so soon. If they come anywhere close to me on the next tour I'm going to see them.

The bass player from TREOS is working on the cd with them.

haha, that's what I am here for. Yeah, I post on their official forum, and Casey/Eric/Andy/Nick all get on and regularly answer everyone's questions and stuff. Most down to earth dudes in the world.

But yeah, Nate played guitar for TREOS, and he's playing bass in the Dear Hunter. When someone asked what songs he had written, Casey listed three or four pre-act III songs, and then said that every song he's written for Act III he is extremely proud of, and he says you can hear a great progression of his songwriting ability on the album. It's going to be absolutely incredible, of that I am sure.

Something about The Dear Hunter reminds me of Coheed and Cambria. I'm thinking its the lyrical content and the whole multi-album concept.

No title yet, but I expect it to be announced soon.

Ehh, the Dear Hunter make far more mature music than Coheed does.

Clocks in at around 57 minutes, which is short for them. I mean...Act I was 8 songs long and was 40 minutes. Anyways, I am super excited, it's going to be the best record released this year.

Act III comes out tomorrow bump.

I shelled out the $30 to get the deluxe edition ($7 was shipping). The packaging alone is the best packaging I have ever seen on a CD. Auotgraphed poster, colored storybook of the last album, postcards with the lyrics written on them. Not to mention the whole thing smells like old paper/memoirs

After only one listen it sounds like usual Dear Hunter greatness.
