Well can anyone give me some band recommendations? I listen to slipknot, slayer, metallica, motorhead, killswitch engage, LAMB OF GOD, black dahlia murder, all that remains, as i lay dying and bodom, so I am looking for screaming bands and just metal.

Check out the Finnish band Norther. They are similar to Bodom, so if you dig them you cant go wrong here. A few tracks I recommend are Smash (which is an Offspring cover), Everything, Betrayed, Blackhearted...this band is pretty much all hit and no miss. Rock on \m/

If you like Thrash and Screaming check out: Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, or Coroner.
My favorite of those is Kreator, but I would check out Sodom's Agent Orange first. I've only heard parts of it, but I think it's what you are looking for. Destruction is pretty similar to the first two bands, and Coroner and very technical Thrash.

I am in the same boar War Pig is in, except I'm looking for Rock music. I had a little MP3 player and was having to delete songs to get new ones, so no space for new bands really. But I got an 8gig for Christmas. So...Any good Rock bands that you may suggest?

I used to react to classical music much like that a few years ago, but after deeply immersing myself in the world of prog and discovering many of the English prog bands are essentially rock crossed with classical/jazz, I had a listen and realised that classical is actually a very impressive genre.
As for bands you'd actually be interested in, I remember you mentioning something about liking Top 40 bands, so I suppose rummaging through that should find you something you like. Last.fm says if you're into bands like Creed and Alter Bridge you should try Nickelback, 3 Doors Down and Audioslave, and for Pearl Jam it suggests Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. I reccomend that you check it out yourself as there are countless other bands listed.

I just picked up Judas Priest's British Steel Friday and it absolutely blew my mind away. If oyur just looking for something different try Static-X, MegaDeth, Dio and Anthrax.

Beethoven is actually a good recommendation. Influence from Beethoven's songs can be found in lots and lots of rock music.

See Pachelbel's Canon in D. So many songs have borrowed the chord progression its not even funny.
And no, I did not discover that from the rather amusing rant on YouTube, but rather a knowledge of musical theory, albeit a rather small one.

The list was made for only one person, the person who asked. I'm not going to bother describing them, he could go and look on Wikipedia or go to some concerts or go on MySpace like everyone else to find new music. He asked here. Now he can go to those places to find out about those bands.

While the thread doesn't necessarily call for band descriptions because the person asking for suggestions gave us what he was looking for, CD has a point in that it's always helpful to keep conversation going by doing a bit more than making lists or one word/sentence replies.
S'all I wanted to say.

Classical is the most complex music.. ironic that todays music has actualy regressed harmonically from that of the 16th - 17th century... Which is why I don't really recommend a lot of today's music; it's too boring. And the Pachebel's Rant thing is actually a very accurate satire of today's music (I met the guy who does that too, pretty funny when he's drunk). If you're really interested in classical, drop me a line. It's something I know quite a bit about actually. ;)

I've heard alot of people don't like them because they are allegedly a rip-off of Radiohead or something.
I personally like those 3 bands I listed though.

Matt's voice sounds really similar to Thom's somtimes, but they sound nooothing alike other than that. Radiohead is oodles better than Muse.
@ threadstarter:
You might like Protest the Hero. Should probably start with their album Fortress, as it is the most 'metal' release they've had so far.
Video for Sequoia Throne from Fortress:

One of the best "metal-core" ish acts around right now, easily. Although classifying them as metal core is sort of a gross generalization, but whatever.
oh...also you need to listen to Colors by Between the Buried and Me.
Tommy's growl is kinda hard to get into though.
