View Full Version : Marcus' father?

Throughout GOW I and GOW II we are confronted with bits and pieces about Marcus Pheonix's father. Who is this man? What is the significance of him to these games? We all know after playing GOW II that he came up with the solution to destroying the Locust Horde. He came up with idea to sink the city right onto their nest, thus destroying them but also destroying one of the humans biggest strongholds. Also, after we are met with that news we meet the Locust Queen in a cut scene. In the end of this cut scene right before the fight with Skorge she says something along the lines of,"if only you could have been like your father, Marcus." Now I assume that to be a bit of foreshadowing in that she knew his father. If you haven't noticed the Locust Queen looks nothing like all those other ugly guys. She almost looks human. Very fishy to me. Maybe she knew Marcus' father very closely, even affectionately? I mean we have never heard about Marcus' mother from what I understand, could she be it?
I wanna hear what all of you have to think so share all your thoughts about it.

Personally, I think that during the Pendulum Wars, some humans, including Adam Fenix, decided to try to create a "superhuman" specimen to aid in the efforts. The result, however, wasn't what was expected, and created the Locust. Not only did it not have the desired results, but it completely backfired and the Locust began killing everyone. The sires in GoW2 are either failed specimens or something created to fight the Locust...
The Locust queen, however, just looks too human to be in direct relation with all the other grunts/therons/etc... So I really have no idea as to how she came about... I do believe, however, that she had some sort of relations with Adam. I'm not entirely sure how, but it's almost a given, at least in my opinion.
Yeah, I'm probably completely wrong... but whatever. That's how I see it.

Those are very likely ideas. One I came up with while reading Cardinals is that since the queen looks so human, she probably is. I believe she was probably one of the lead researchers dedicated to the Locust project. They may have needed sperm cells for this project and she donated her's for the female side. I am not certain on this but Adam Feniz may have donated his for the male side, hence the reason the Queen knows Adam, because they worked closely together and were bonded in a sort of way. They were the creators of the Locust.
Now when Adam saw what he had created and the havoc is was going to cause he probably tried to stop it, or at least we hope. I believe that the queen was to dedicated to the project and cared for it too much to watch it fall. So she lead the locust underground to a safe haven for the time being. Now I don't really know a reason why she would become so hateful towards humans, but I can see why she is ther "queen." If she did donate sperm or dna she is biologically related to each locust, and since the locust almost act such as animals, they would listen to hear and follow her commands. Like baby lion cubs following their mother.
What do you think?

Hmmmm.. Some good theories there. I think I might play the second game again to come up with a theory. At the end, you know when adam pheonix starts talking. It made me think maybe he was helping the Queen in some way, and maybe that sinking Jacinto would help the locust in the fight for the planet. But I'm just spitballing here..

Yes it is true that Marcus' squad find those com records in the middle of the Locust stronghold! But you could take what was said in the recording both ways. It could have been sent to the Queen telling her of the sacrifice she was going to make or he sent it to the leaders of the humans telling them of their sacrifice. Or he sent them too both to see who would act first, we just won't know until the next game, and probably won't even know after that one!

Long story short: Everything is Adam Fenix's fault.

Ahmen brother!
I just hope the next game doesn't take as long to come out. I'm actually on edge waiting to know what happens next, as long as the ending is better I don't give a crap what happens.

This game had a great ending, in my opinion. Sure, they didn't wrap a ton of things up, but they're not supposed to. It's supposed to leave you hanging, and I'm sure everything's going to be explained in the third game.

Personally I think that both the Queen and Adam Fenix worked together, but then an experiment went wrong and thats now the Locust Queen is different but looks like a human. I also feel that the sires were what the Queen and Adam Fenix were experimenting on as it tells you that they were PoW's from the Pendulum Wars.
I dunno but thats what I think, if you agree with me you do, if you don't you dont. Role on GoW 3 ^^

I think that gamingstud there could be spot on. It is the sort of thing that they are implying. Is it a known fact that the locust were human experiments cos I didnt pay too much attention to what they were saying some of the time? There are certain things that lead me to believe that. Eg, the secret lab in Adam's house. The fact that it was in his house supports the idea that the queen could be Marcus' mother.

The queen is NOT Marcus's mother. Period.

I personally have reason to believe that Adam is in some way the queen.

there is a relation, i think the queen was used as testing for the sires, the sires evolved, became locusts. (imulsion maybe, when they went undeground?) and the older, first generation of locust have gone lambent, attacking the newer generations locusts who havent been exposed long enough to go lambent, just enough to change them from sires to locusts. if that makes any sense at all....

i'm thinkin adam and the queen was tryin to make a superhuman soldier for any upcoming wars. maybe adam left and the queen finished with the locust. she was mad at adam for leaving her, (and their child, marcus) and unleashed the new horde on humanity.
