And it's really good. Well tracks 1, 2, 3, and 5 are good (Chinese Democracy, Shackler's Revenge, Better, If The World). I've only gotten to track 6 so far. A lot of this stuff seems corny as hell. Like track 4 (Street of Dreams) seems straight out of a Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks movie, it's ridiculous. I haven't gotten to the tail end of the album yet, but it has promise.
Anyone else pick this up?

I've only heard Shackler's Revenge and I think its pretty terrible. I feel like I'm the only one who finds GnR incredibly overrated for having one high selling album and a nut case singer.
I mean I'll probably hear the album sometime but its not something I want to listen to.

For the record the rest of the album doesn't sound anything like that. Buckethead guest guitared (new word) on that song, so obviously it sounds different.

Shackler's revenge was alright, but didn't have the signature GnR sound to it.

Shackler's revenge was alright, but didn't have the signature GnR sound to it.Because it's not really Guns N Roses. It's just Axl.
Edit: Axl and four other guys who aren't at all related to GnR. For anyone who'd misinterpret what I meant.

I should also mention that if you're looking for more Guns N' Roses it's not here, the 80s kind of ended a while ago. The album sounds new, and it's hard to say if the band would've ever transformed into this type of thing, since the thing took f*cking 14 years to make. Try listening to Metallica's first album and their latest, there's an obvious difference and the band changed with the times, I'd like to imagine GnR would've done the same thing.
Whether or not it would sound like this, not sure. But I still think it's pretty good.

The record isn't bad, it's incredibly overblown, overproduced and cheesy, but you would expect nothing less from Axl Rose and a record 14 years in the making.

I was reading an article the other day about how some critics feel this isn't the record Axl wanted to create 14 years ago.
I kind of agree with that. I mean, it's an alright album musically, but it really isn't OMG HE RELEASED IT ITS SO RAD good. Then again, I'm not a big GnR fan, so maybe I'm not the best judge of this album.

This is kind of old now but I think the thread's worthy of slight revival. While I don't like most GnR except for Paradise City and that time they used Big, Dumb Sex by Soundgarden on the Spaghetti Incident, I do love Ron Thal. Hopefully the subsequent touring influences more people onto Bumblefoot's presence.

I'm not all that into Guns 'n Roses, but I did check it out. I hate it, personally.

I still want to know what exactly the 23 flavors are.
Anyway, I might be getting this for Christmas. What I've heard so far I've liked (shackler's revenge, and the title track), even though it's not the original GNR line-up.
