Are there any rock bands out there that feature female singers other than Flyleaf and Evanescence? I like Flyleaf, but I don't really care to much for Evanescence. I've got Kitty's Spit, and I'm looking for stuff that leans more towards Flyleaf.

Nightwish is my favorite Female Fronted Band. They are more symphonic power metal than Rock, but you should like them. My favorite album is Once and I would highly reccomend you choose and album with their old singer because (in my opinion) she is a far better singer.

I will list the same bands I listed before: After Forever, Sirenia, Tristania, Tarja Turunen, Elis, Leaves' Eyes, Delain, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Theatres Des Vampires, Arch Enemy, Kidneythieves, Kittie, Otep, Epica, thats all I can't think of now.

Admitted most of the bands are listed as one sub-genre of metal or another, they are actually really good. As for songs from each, its kind of hard to choose. As pertains to Nightwish, yes Tarja was great, but don't let that stop you from listening to their newer stuff, because IMO, Nightwish will always be Nightwish. Sure they have a different singer, and whatnot, but bands are always evolving. Sirenia for example is on, I believe the 3rd., singer, but they are still good. So basically when I see a band change members, I see it as a chance for a new style.

Thanx, but please let's keep this out of the 80's.

Paramore and Alanis Morrissette have yet to be mentioned, so I'll go ahead and mention them. Paramore is good if you're looking for something like Flyleaf, and Morrissette is a good all-around musician.

Fiona Apple is a good singer, but is basically just a skeleton.

And the 80's had some of the best music. Modern music really started to develop in the 80's.

howz'about Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JizBVv-J5_0)?

Sorry man, already listed it, but yes it is a good band.

As for Sirenia, I looked, apparently they are on their 4th. singer. Of course they haven't released a CD with this new singer yet, but again I understand that their sound will probably change again in some way, but it will still be Sirenia. Maybe I should make a thread asking about this kind of thing.

The Gathering. Very melodic vocals and music, and generally more on the calm side.

Otep from Otep is really hot.

I like some of their music too.

Draconian - Gothic Doom Metal
Circle Takes the Square - Screamo
The Walls of Jericho - Metalcore (good)
Therion - Symphonic Metal (usually have female singers.)

May be different from what you listen to, but go for it.

The Walls of Jericho isn't bad. Considering I don't like a lot of that type of music when I saw them live I thought they weren't bad. Certainly better than a lot of other bands that were at that festival.

Arch Enemy, really surprising to know has a female singer.

CTTS are quite wonderful... the dual vocals work fantastically.

I know deathcore isn't everyone's favourite genre - least of all mine - but the girl from iwrestledabearonce has quite a pair of lungs on her...

Haylee from paramore can sing like a muh'f*ckah

Seriously though. I think she has the best voice out of any Female rock singer today.

Plus, amazingly, she sounds 50 times better live, then she does on her records.

While she may have the most powerful female voice in rock, I don't think she could out sing Floor Jansen from After Forever. When you listen to Beyond Me, both the album version with Sharon den Adel, and the video on youtube with Simone Simons, who both have great voices, Floor simply overpowers them. If you need the links PM me. IMO, Floor has one of the most powerful female voices in music today.

I'd take a listen to KMFDM if you want a female vocalist... and the rest of the band isn't half bad as well...

When I was in high school I listened to Kittie & Drain STH. So, check out the latter. They're an all girl swedish hard rock band. The album Freaks of Nature is the one I had and loved.

Blech, Walls of Jericho are just garbage. Their singer can't carry a tune in a bucket, she's a horrible screamer, and the rest of the band flat out sucks. Then there's also the fact that both shows I've been unfortunate unough to see them at, they got booed off the stage within 10 minutes (Family Values Tour 06 and Mayhem fest this past summer).

Flyleaf aren't bad, but they're just boring live. Their guitarist/s and bassist just stand in one spot the whole time, and all their singer does is sway back and forth. They give little to no crowd interaction, and it seems like getting through their set list is a chore for them. I also saw them at the FVT 06, and I wasn't impressed by them as a live band at all. I assume they've gotten better over the past 2 years, but I wouldn't go see them again unless they were on a major tour like that.

Here's some more female vocalised bands that none of you eurocheese-loving ****s will even glance at:

Rolo Tomassi (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i945rD5NmAk) - keyboard-flavoured grind
Welcome The Plague Year (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nKbhwiZ0QmY) - Harsh epic screamo, ex-JFFB
Memento Mori (http://www.roboticempire.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=88) - Hardcore/Screamo (page has free mp3)
Flowers in the Attic (http://www.myspace.com/baltimoreflowers) - More screamo.
Anomie (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=llnece7c2t4) - Seminal screamo band from France.
Madder Mortem (http://www.myspace.com/maddermortem) Blackish goth metal (okay maybe you eurocheese connoisseurs would love this)
Gallhammer (http://www.myspace.com/ghammercrust) - Celtic Frost worship. From Japan. By three females. Who happen to be smoking hot.
The Project Hate MCMXCIX (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-irJxKdKMNk) - Some regular melodic death metal with clean female vox and regular male DM vox.

Another band to consider is Ayreon its actually pretty good, and they always have guest vocalist, some of whom are female, I can't remember which songs though, I'll have to get back to on that one.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned In This Moment (http://www.myspace.com/inthismoment) yet. Definitely one of the best female vocalists I've heard in a long time. Thier first album was mostly metalcore-ish, while the second one has more of a rock feel to it. Her screaming is okay, but her singing is way better.

Just a note, I really can't list one song, here is why.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayreon

The majority of Ayreon's albums are dubbed "rock operas" because the albums contain complex storylines featuring a host of characters, each represented by a unique vocalist.

The voice of Forever then speaks the final words of the album, tying its events into the overall Ayreon plot that began with The Final Experiment.

The song ends with a distorted clip of the end of The Final Experiment, with the voice of Merlin saying "The outcome of the Final Experiment has now been placed in your hands" followed by the ticking of a clock.

So honestly its a huge story. The only album that doesn't really follow this is 'Actual Fantasy'.
