~Two Hours Ago~

A '98 Toyota 4x4 with a trailer hooked onto the back that was full of boxes and hay bails pulled up into the driveway of the newly bought house, stirring up dust in the process. The engine cut off, the pilot door opened, and out hopped a short girl with bright red hair that was tied back in a braid. She wore long jeans and a fitted short-sleeved shirt. The girl walked around the side of the truck and took a good look at the house that was now her home. She fished the key out of her pocket and unlocked the front door, pushing it open to reveal a hallway. She then returned to her truck and started carrying boxes in, surprisingly strong for her size.

~Now~

Around the back of the house, in the big field, Karyna looked around at her handiwork. She had just finished setting up the last target, a large stack of hay bails with a paper target tacked on the front. There was also a large white screen set up behind it on wooden posts. Karyna took a deep breath. “That should do it,” She said to no one in particular.

She walked back inside and went into one of the unopened boxes, found a glass, and poured herself a tall glass of water from the sink in the kitchen. She gulped it down and got some more, right before going out into the hallway, where a cage and a tank were set up. Inside the cage was a brilliantly white bird with a yellow crest, and inside the tank was a green iguana with blue splotches. “You guys must be exhausted from the trip.” True, as she said this, the cockatoo tucked his head under his wing and went to sleep. The iguana, however, didn’t move. He rarely did.

Sipping her water, Karyna went out front and hopped onto a low branch on the grape tree in front of her house. Leaning against the trunk, she rested. She wasn’t finished unpacking, she though bitterly. It could wait. The main thing was that she had finished the archery field. She closed her eyes and relaxed.

ooc: 5 views and no replies? I know you guys are there! Come on, is no one happy to see me? I feel...forgotten...

ooc2: Fourteen views now? I'm starting to think you guys were happier when I was gone. Hmph.

ooc: Prolly admins. or something. Ive been gone, so sorry.

ic: His silverish gray hair shining and swaying in the wind, Harp walked across the roads of the town, he was sure this was the place. He noticed the archery field as he passed and stopped. He repositioned the bag on his back, going a ridiculout three feet over his head, and walked up to the girl sitting under the tree. "Hey, thats an archery field right?" Harp smiled, his voice carrying melodically. "Mind if I try?"

Karyna nearly fell out of the tree; she hadn't heard anyone. She hopped down and smiled at him. "Sure! That's what I'm here for. I'm Karyna, and obviously, I just moved in." She flicked her red braid behind her shoulder and lead him back behind her house. "Hold on, I'll go get some stuff." She flitted back and was back in a moment with two bows, one red, one blue, and a handful of arrows. "Okay, do you know which of your hands is dominant? Probably the one you write with, but not always. I'm an exception." She laid the arrows on the ground and handed Harp the blue bow. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name."

"Im Harp, but im abidextrous. I learned how to shoot awhile ago, but its been at least three months since ive had an oppurtunity to practice..." He sighed, accepting the bow and grabbing an arrow. His footsteps still nearly silent, he shuffled so he was directly across from the target, and in one smooth motion, nocked and drew the bowstring back. Raising the bow up, and holding for a second, he released, and the arrow flew. "Darn it..." he said, as the arrow strayed to the right of the target. "Mind if I come here to practice while I stay in this town?" He asked, the dissapointment that he didnt even hit the target showing vividly on his face.

"No, that was good! You should've seen some of the people I've taught...Looks like they've aimed correctly, and yet it goes fifty feet into the air. A little practice, you'll be awesome. Actually, I've made a living from going from town to town and teaching people how to shoot. Lessons, you know, that stuff. I'm left-handed. Watch this!" Karyna gripped the red bow and nocked an arrow on it. Keeping both eyes open, she let the arrow loose. From the light in her eyes, it was obvious that this was what she lived for. The arrow flew straight, cutting through the air all the way to the target. With a loud smack, it speared into the paper and hay bail about three-quarters of an inch above the middle. "Yeah!" Karyna said. "Eh, we better go get your arrow. It can't have gone far, and we need to make sure we have all of them so I don't run over them with the lawnmower."

Harp jogged forward, stopping exactly where his arrow was nestled in higher grasses. "I have very good eyesight..." He explained, then pulled her arrow from the target, walking back. He lined up, and took another shot. It flew just to the left of the target, still hitting the hay, but barely missing the paper on it. It was barely off being level with the targets center. "Close... I need to get better at telling how the winds blowing..." Harp sighed. "Hey," He started to ask, pausing for a second shyly. "Do you know where an Inn is around here?"

"Uh, no, I haven't gotten to explore the town yet." Karyna sighed. "I still need to unpack my stuff..." She was clearly not looking forward to it, as her voice was filled with reluctance. "You want to come inside? You can meet my pets."

ooc: Are you basically the only person that comes here anymore?

ooc: Kiwi used to be rather active, but me and ninty are the only ones comign nearly every day now, and im not sure how much he will keep up. I can get Kansas back anytime cuz I know him on myspace, but he isnt as active as he could.

ic: Harp smiled. "Sure, but I have to find a place to stay soon, so I should probably look around... well... soon..." He smiled awkardly, following Karynas lead.

OOC: Yeah, soccer drains a man pretty quick. I'm back though.

KC walked up the dirt path, wearing blue jeans, brown cowboy boots, checkered button-up shirt, and a .38 revolver in a holster clipped to her jeans. "Is this a target practice field?"

ooc: Oh, Kansas, this is worth mentioning, cuz Harp looks smililar to Soung, imagin the same thing, only Harp is perfectly innocent, even shy. Plus, he looks a bit younger.

ic: Harp hears Will muttering and turned slightly. "Hey, you got another guest..." he announced to his host.

OOC: It's KC, not Will.

"Hey, I'm KC. KC Davis." she said. She took off her hat and revealed long red hair that flowed down past her shoulders and smiled.

"Im Harp." He introduced himself swiftly, then waited for Karyna to do the same.

ooc: Ok, sorry, haha. And I think thsi thread is gunna be inactive till Under returns

OOC: It's alright

KC drew her revolver and fired straight at a target, hitting it in the dead center, spun the triggerpiece in her finger, spun the barrel and transferred it to the other, doing the same. Something was engraved on the handle in cursive in silver: "Little Miss Robin Hood". It looked like it was done professionally, but KC had engraved it herself.

"Uhm, hello. I'm Karyna. And please, this is an archery field, not for guns. You realize that I'm now going to have to go into those bails and pry the bullets out, because if someone hits it with an arrow, the arrow will be ruined. Thanks." Karyna grumbled. She didn't want to make a bad impression, but this girl had come across as show-offy and rude. Karyna knew that this first impression was probably false, but she also wanted KC to know that she wouldn't put up with it if it wasn't.

ooc: Sorry my reply wasn't exactly swift.

"Sorry!" KC said, turning bright red. "I'll go and get them out." She took out a pair of needlenose pliers and removed them all. "Sorry, I'm like my pop. Shoot first and ask questions later. Sorry, I'm just running my mouth about him. One of the greatest men ever to walk the earth."

Harp suddenly felt a bit left out, he leaned against the wall of the building, wonderign whether he should begin searching now, or wait to see her pets first.

ooc: Sorry for the sporadic activity and the bump. I just haven't introduced her personality enough yet to let it end there.

"It's okay." Karyna said, relieved. She turned and addressed both of them. "Hey, you guys want to come inside? You can see my pets!"

"Yeah sure." KC said. "Haven't had a pet since my pop's goldfish went belly up and the bloodhound kicked the bucket."

Harp liked how Will seemed to sporadically chance subjects. He laughed slightly inside. "Im all for it!" He smiled.

"Awesome! Follow me!" Karyna said. She picked up the equipment and jolted Toward the front. "It's a mess, I haven't unpacked much yet, but I can get something if you need it. " She turned the handle on the door and pushed it open. She set the equipment down in a corner while Harp and KC stepped inside. They saw a cage with a brilliantly white bird with a yellow crest, and a tank that appeared to be empty. Karyna opened the cage. "Hey, Sparky!" She said, and the bird flew up onto her shoulder.

"What's in here?" KC almost said. Almost, as in, right before she finished, she spotted some depth and yelped.

"Duck!" Karyna said with glee. "That's my iguana. He's good at hiding. I can take him out, if you want to see him up close."

"Ah, a c*ckatoo!" KC said. "I always wanted one, but my pop wouldn't let me get one 'cause they can be kinda loud."

Harp looked at the bird, he liked birds. He began whistling a soft tune that sounded exactly like the birds native call, only more complex.

ooc: Ahaha, you can decide what the bird does, it wuld be cute if it flew to him tho.

"Does it talk?" KC said. "Say a few syllables." she said to the c*ckatoo and offered it some food. "Say a few syllables for a saltine?"

Sparky looked at Harp and turned his head in a questioning way. He closed his eyes and opened them very slowly, as if distracted by the song. "I think he likes it. You probably sound like his papa," Karyna said. Sparky jumped from Karyna's shoulder onto the top of his home. He then hopped over to on top of Duck's tank, which was covered by a wire screen. He was hopping over to Harp, but he wasn't quite sure he could trust him enough to hop on him.

"C'mon Sparky, that's where I'm trying to go." Karyna picked Sparky up off the top of the tank and put him on top of his cage. She unfastened the top of Duck's cage and reached inside. She pulled out a blue iguana with yellow splotches. "Sparky doesn't really talk; I've never understood why. He doesn't make much noise at all, for that matter, but I think he still enjoys crackers." While Karyna was saying this, Sparky had hopped over to KC and stolen the cracker from her hand, before hopping closer to Harp. "You can hold him, if you want. KC, you ever felt an iguana?"

"Nope, but I'm kinda reluctant because the last time I got near something scaly, it nearly bit me and ended up in a stew." KC said.

Harp shuddered at the idea of lizard stew, then kneeled down towards Sparky, his hand out, waiting for it to come to him. His song became a bit mre whimsical and playful.

Karyna pulled Duck toward her. "O-okay, then, I'll just put him back." Karyna set Duck back in the tank. "Go on, Sparky, don't be shy." She urged the bird. Sparky hopped over to Harp, and after a bit of flapping, settled on his wrist. "There you go. Hey, you guys hear about what happened at the elections in Mineral Town? They say Thomas cheated. Didn't send out the ballots to the service people on time."

Kansas

"Nah, nah, not lizard stew. Rattlesnake stew." KC laughed. "Haha, classic." she said.

Harp was getting a bit bored at the small talk, but played along. "Arent Rattlesnakes dangerous? Do you need to prepare it special, or does the heat make it safe."

Kansas
November 9th, 2008, 01:40 PM
"Kinda." KC said. "You need to...well, decapitate it, then skin it and cook it till it's brown and crispy. It's like chicken, but I think I'll drop it."
