I just pulled my import (jpn) saturn that I hadnt played in almost a year as I miss playing a lot of the Street Fighter vs. series and Marvel Super Heroes. Has anyone else been playing theirs recently? I forgot how awesome the system was..especially for japanese games.

Aw man don't remind me. I still gotta get a Sega Saturn. I haven't played one but I'm a big collector and I'd love to check one out. It's not too hard to find one either. Maybe $60 at a flea market. What games would you say are good for the Saturn?
And do you need a JPN version to play JPN games?

Nah you don't necessarily need a JPN Saturn to play JPN games. You can use something like an Action Replay 4-in-1 Plus to play them (which also serve as a cheat tool and a 4MB RAM expansion for games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter). I just have and use an imported Saturn myself because it was cheap anyway and I play more japanese saturn games than I do american or PAL.
Some of the games I would recommend right off:
Nights
Panzer Dragoon Zwei
Virtual On
Virtua Fighter 2
Fighters Megamix
Sonic Jam
Rayman
Daytona USA
MechWarrior 2
Sega Rally Championship
Shining Force III
Guardian Heroes
Darius Gaiden
Clockwork Knight 2
Magic Knight Rayearth
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Marvel Super Heroes
X-Men: Children of the Atom
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Radiant Silvergun
Cyberbots
X-Men VS. Street Fighter/Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (4M Expansion required)
Vampire Savior (4M Expansion)
Dragonball Z Legends
Some of these games can get pretty pricey but most of them are dirt cheap especially if you're looking at the japanese version of them.

You do need a JPN system to play JPN games legally.
There are a lot of great games, but unfortunately a lot of the great Saturn games are pretty expensive
Guardian Heroes
Blazing Heroes
Shining Force 3
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Shining of the Holy Arc
Shining into Wisdom
Nights into Dreams
Dragon Force
A lot of great 2d fighter games
just a few off the top of my head
So edit...looks like you can play JPN games

Man those are some sweet games. Rayman, Street Fighter Alpha 2, lots of the shining series; I heard Dragon Force is an excellent game but I was under the impression it was for a different system. They did good with that system.
How much did you guys pay to get your Saturn? JPN version? So you can play JPN on a normal Saturn? That's just like the Dreamcast.

Well I would expect to pay around 40-50 bucks either on ebay or places that specialize in it. I ordered my jpn saturn (in addition to a lot of games) from japangamestock.com personally, they were pretty reliable. As for if you get a domestic american saturn...that'll probably run you about the same price. You can use either a cart that will enable playing imported games (st-key or action replay 4m plus like i mentioned earlier which will run about 20-30 bucks i suppose) or you can do it the slightly less legimate but free way...which I suppose I can't really touch on here.

I got my saturn for $20. There really aren't a lot of good games for it, even if you're talking imports. I find myself playing Marvel vs Street Fighter, and Street Fighter Zero 3 the most. Metal Slug is really great, but 2 player has bad slowdown (It's on the Wii virtual console now for cheaper than I imported it for). I haven't played Panzer Dragoon Saga since I beat it, but the pop-up was among the worst I've ever seen. I do love Die Hard Arcade, and play that a ton. Guardian Heroes is neat, but overrated. So is Burning Rangers.
And to anyone who's a big collector but doesn't have one--they're a waste of money.

You don't need the Japanese system to play Japanese games. If you buy a gameshark or 4 in one, you do indeed play imports legally.
I love the Saturn and I still play mine all the time, it was one of the best system out there. It was just badly handled by the U.S. arm, why many of the best titles stayed in Japan.
Some of my favorite games for the Saturn are:
Dragon Force(Strategy/RPG) - Stellar game and the Sega Ages PS2 remake is great.
Dragon Force 2(Import - Strategy/RPG) - Great game!
Radiant Silvergun(Import - Shooter) - Awesome game made by the masters at Treasure.
Panzer Dragoon Saga(RPG) - One of the best RPGs period.
Langrisser series(Import - Strategy/RPG) - Great releases on the Saturn, including the awesome box "Langrisser Tribute".
Soukygurentai(Import - Shooter) - Stellar shooter from Raizing.
Shining Force 3(Strategy/RPG) - Great game, too bad the U.S. or U.K. didn't get Scenario 2 and 3.
SF3:Scenario 2,3,and Premium Disk(Import - Strategy/RPG)
Cyberbots(Import - Fighting)
Metal Slug(Import - Action)
Wachenroder(Import - Strategy/RPG)
Magic Knight Rayearth(Action/RPG)
Virtua Fighter series(Fighting)
Last Bronx(Fighting)
Panzer Dragoon 1 and Zwei(Shooter)
Samurai Shodown RPG(Import - RPG)
Battle Garegga(Import - Shooter)
Guardian Heroes(Action/RPG)
Black Matrix(Import - Strategy/RPG)
Shining The Holy Ark(RPG)
Mystaria/Blazing Heroes(Strategy/RPG)
Iron Storm(Strategy/RPG)
Princess Crown(IMport - Action/RPG) - Classic game by the makers of Odin Sphere(PS2).
Nights(Adventure)
Burning Rangers(Action)
Legend 0f Oasis(Action/RPG)
Dark Savior(Action/RPG)
Strikers 1945 and 1945 2(Import - Shooter)
Baroque(Import-RPG)
Grandia(Import - RPG)
Shin Megami Tensei:Devil Summoner/Soul Hackers(import - RPG)
Tons of other titles I forget.
