A while ago, I bought a Game Genie cartridge for my old NES which still works fine. At the time I didn't own a game genie when the NES consoles were it back in the day so I decided to try one since I could never complete any of the games I owned (except 2). Well, what happens is when I attach the game genie to a game cartridge of my choice and I insert it inside, the screen just flashes gray and the red light blinks, something you commonly see when you don't have a game inserted or when a game cartridge can't be read. When I just insert a game cartridge it doesn't have this problem. Am I inserting the game genie incorrectly or what?
Thanks in advance!

Are you putting it in with the black grip on top? I do believe that is the right way.
I do think I remember having problems getting it started the last time I used one, so the only other suggestion I have is the constant put in/take out method.

Yea mine gave me some troubles when I first got it, but I realized that it was because it was so dirty. Qtips work excellent. Alcohol is the best solution to clean it with too. Swab it up and it'll probably work fine. Good luck! :)

I actually cleaned the inside of my NES with the Q-tip and solution. I also did this with the Game genie and it still came up with the same result. I may not be inserting it in correctly though...

Weird, I cant get my games to work without the GG. Are you using a top or front loader NES? There are 2 models of the GG, one for top and one for front. For the front, there's like a black wedge on top. When you push it with enough "force", the wedge should push the lid down automatically.

K..hope this might help solve the problem. I'm not sure which one of the two GG versions I have that you're describing so I've attached some pictures. This is how I'm inserting them...

That is indeed the correct way. It may be that it just finally gave out.
Why not try that there phone number?

Hmm...I tried the phone number but it appears it's no longer valid. I did discover a new Game Genie on Ebay that is still factory sealed and apparently never used from a seller...Perhaps I may have to try a new one.
Thanks for the help though!

does anyone have a picture of the GG for the top loader? I have been after one of these for quite some time.

Hey AEON83, I remember reading somewhere back in the early 1990s that Nintendo had tried to keep players from being able to use the Game Genie by redesigning the NES console so it won't load a game cartridge if it is inserted into a Game Genie. You might have one of those non-compatible consoles...

Its pretty much impossible to insert the game genie the wrong way. Your game genie is just screwed. If you tried to clean it and it still doesnt work, i would say you need to get a new genie.

I used to have a game genie and it destroyed my nes completely. If you try a game that you used on the gg before that does not work , try the game on the gg.
