Look guys I posted this in the 360 forum but got far from a definitive answer so with the thinking that different members use this forum and someone my well be able to help me I hope you dont mind me reposting.

My friend was about to buy a external hard drive for his PC off the internet and noticed a customer review were the person said he bought it to watch his PC vids through his 360, I already own a external so my friend has tried to link them but unsuccesfully, is it possible? And if so do you need software or anything to do it?

Wouldn't you just plug the usb into the xbox 360 usb port? You probably already did that, so once you plugged it in did you change the video source that the 360 was reading from? You do that by pressing X when you click on the video option on your 360.

If the external HDD requires extra software/drivers than I'd imagine it would be unable to be used on the 360. That is a guess though. I do know however most flash drives work by just plugging them in. So I don't know why the HDD wouldn't.

If what you mean is that you cannot find the vids on your 360, then it could be video format of the movies.
