there are a few Dreamcast games that you can still play online today. i will list them. Quake 3 arena, starlancer, 4x4 evo. all can be played after you have your modem configured just by putting the game in and hitting online game. you can also still play Phantasy star online and maximum pool on privet servers. and if you have pop3 email you can still play sega swirl too.

I've always wanted to play the Dreamcast online, but I don't really want to get dial up just to play on a system that I do just fine with offline. I would get a broadband adapter if it was possible to find them anymore. I don't believe there were many of those made.
So here's the question... what are the odds that you'll actually find someone online?

actually great odds. if you play PSO at schthack they have many players. if your more of a shooter fan quake 3 has not only DC players on there servers but PC ones as well. 4x4 evo and max pool are both multi platform games so you get DC, PC and mac players on them.
as for paying for dial up. i say don't pay for it. either look into free dial up ISPs or if you have DSL high speed ask your provider for a free dial up number. most of the DSL providers give you dial up for free
i play my DC online once a week on average.

I did not know that. That is quite interesting. I might have to look into that... and buy the Dreamcast mouse and keyboard (again...) while I'm at it.

I don't know if I could get free dial up where I live especially since I can't even get DSL here. I will be moving to an apartment in a more populated area in the next month or two (this is if I can find an apartment in due time) so maybe I'll be able to figure something out in the future.

PSO is still playable online on private servers....although it's pretty much close to dead due to more private servers like schthack switching over to PSO blue burst (PC). There's barely any dreamcast players left and now that most PC users have switched to blue burst there's isn't many other PC players to play with as well anymore. As for Unreal Tournament...I have no idea.

Are you sure those are the only games you can play online?
I, sadly enough, could never get my Dreamcast to connect to the Internet, even when I had dial-up. I spent many futile hours trying, but never had any luck.
But I know the website that Sonic Adventure 2 connects to is still online. I just don't know how well it works, as I've never been able to connect. =[

Hi, I have used every free cash promo and a lot of deposit bonuses as well. It seems hard to find any more free cash but please response here if you know any other place. The boring thing with online bingo is that almost 50% of the no deposit bonuses is only play money. So it's better to check if they allow a withdrawal if you win on the free cash. I did win a lot at one place but that was of course play money. Please help.

If I wasn't though I might consider this. But meh... don't have an online game anyway.if you have cable internet you can set up a PC-DC server. this will let you use your DC online with out the Dreamcast BBA or dial up internet.
is pso or UT avaiable for online still??PSO yes, UT no. though some people are trying to get UT back online. its highly unlikely that they will ever get it working.

and may i ask, how do u do this?? very interestedthis is how i connect using my Dreamcast. it is a bit of a pain to set up. and it may require you to make or buy some hardware.
idk if i am aloud to post the links. but i will try. if these links fail then you will have to do a google search. if you need to search try searching things like (how to set up PC-DC server on windows). or (how to set up a PC-DC server on linux). if i am able to link i will put them at the end of this post.
you should know that in most cases you will need a line voltage inducer. this is because the dreamcast modem will not power the phone cord. there was 2 different release of dreamcast modems in the united states. one will work with out the line voltage inducer more often. model 670-14140A does not require a Line voltage inducer if set up with the correct hardware. but model 670-14140B will need the voltage inducer far more often. though model B often needs the inducer on some setups even it will not need it. to find out what model you have take the modem off of your dreamcast. it is labeled on a white sticker.
here are the links
to set up the PC-DC server on windows. go to this one. http://www.maturion.de/dreamcast/mterlouw/
to set up a PC-DC server on linux go to this one. http://www.kinox.org/articles/linuxdc.html
setting one of these up is not easy to do. so you will need some tech experience. good luck

Hey guys, just dug out my old DC, had a great time, although it turned yellow :(
Anyways, I want to relive my childhood 10 years ago and play PSO.....is it going to be a pain trying to play PSO on these private servers being talked about?yes and no. if you own the US version 2 you are going to ahve trouble. the US version 2 is no longer able to connect online. NTSC/U aka US versions. 1 will work also pal version 1 and 2 work online.
some ppl have made copies of the PAL version to for us US players. a few are floating around. the best ones have been edited to redirect to unofficial servers.
to make this easy on you i will link to the best download. this is to the Dreamcast-Talk ship download http://dreamcast-talk.com/uploads/pso/PSOv2_PAL60_DC-Talk_FastLoad.rar you will need Winrar to unpack the file. it should be a .CDI file, so burn it with discjuggler or alcohol 120% this one is the best one at the moment. all you would need to do is put it into your Dreamcast and select online game like the original sega servers. make sure your Dreamcast is set for online play before attempting to connect! here is a link to the Dreamcast-Talk forums. http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/index.php
if you want the other one i will have to locate a good download of it that is not a torrent. if you want to use a torrent by all means to for it. if you go to http://psopalace.funurl.com/ you can find more information on that. mind you this one will require you to have codebreaker. its a pain in the ass to connect this way. this one is for the shcthack servers. here is a link to schthacks forums and web page http://www.schtserv.com/
i should note that i own all the original GD-roms so i connect using codebreaker/Xploder. it is a lot harder doing this and codebreaker will not work with burnt games. you can get boot loader to use with codebreaker and burnt games. but if you did that you will have to put 3 discs into your Dreamcast just to play one game. i would recommend you use the first download link. its by far the easiest way to get on one of these unofficial servers.

man thanks for the tips! Now I just need to figure out how to get my DC to connect through my laptop.see the post i made above my last one on PC-DC servers, posted on November 25th, 2008, 10:02 PM. follow the link that matches your lap tops operating system. i posted one for windows users and one for linux users. if you have a Mac it will be harder to find information on how to connect it. though Macs use Unix so the linux guides may be of some use to Mac users. its not that easy to do this but at least its an option. its the way i connect my Dreamcast online to this day.

can q3 even be played online thur a dc?yes you can play Quake 3 arena online. in fact Q3 is one of the few games that can use the Dreamcast Broad band adapter. the only other game still online to support it is Phantasy star online.

how about the Web Browser, Does that still work?yes all the web browser work. though planet web 1.0 has very limited function. you can browse the web but not much else. 2.0 and later have some basic flash support. how ever they are incompatible many of todays email clients. so if you want to use a Dreamcast web browser with your email you should use Gmail. also if you want to play Sega swirl online Gmail is a good choice. btw Sega swirl comes on planet web 2.0 and 2.6 not sure about 3.0. if you want a good free web browser for the Dreamcast. try using XDP, you can find the final release that he released on Aug/08/2008 here http://www.psilocybindreams.com/pc/index.php

if the browser is planetweb version 1 you might want to pass on it. if it's at least version 2.0 and only cost a few bucks then i would get it. about 3 or 4 months ago i picked up planetweb 2.0 for 50 cents in a local shop. so it should be fairly cheap.

i have been experimenting with Gmail on Pweb 2.0. it turns out that gmail is incompatible with this browser. at least i can't get it working. so if anyone wants to use the Dreamcat for email they may as well not bother. from what i understand you can still use some email clients. but its hard to find one that works right with these old browsers.
also you can't use sites like youtube because the flash is out of date. the browsers will work for simple searching and browsing though.
