STUCK?! (or maybe i'm an idiot)

I have gotten to the part where the trainer from Hearthrome is missing and says that i should visit other places. The places I haven't visited are Celestic Town, Canalave, Sunyshore, Acuity Lakefront. I believe that the others I will unlock later on. I have no idea what to do, I've tried to visit those citys but they are either blocked or I just cannot figure out a way there.
Can I have a little help please!


Ps. What is the little Orange dot on the map that moves?
I am playing Diamond.

(would pearl be better to play, I also have it.)

Canalave is just west from Jubilife, and you reach the city by surfing.
