Vulpix and Growlite?

everyone say that we need pokemon red/green to get them...
cant we get vulpix and growlite without these other games?

you will need to have the national dex and a leaf green game. go to route 209 after you get the national dex and insert the leaf green game in to the ds.

you can transfer vulpix from r/s/e if you have one there

if you want an opinion on which one to use, Id go with Growlithe/Arcanine. Just wait for Flamethrower before evolving if you dont have the TM or you already used it.
