Well, on a Japanese wiki, the first image from what appears to be the next CoroCoro has arrived. This single page scan shows Pokémon Platinum (confirmed as the name, although technically the Katakana says Platina, but that is generally the term the Japanese use for Platinum), Giratina in its Origin Form as well as what seems to be a new battle interface and potentially a new costume for the main character in Platinum as we see by the Blue top on Lucas in the battle screen. We're awaiting other scans as well, hopefully to confirm this data as well as the other data we revealed yesterday, when the scans come in bigger size and quality. Here's the current scan for you to look at, however it is not be 100% confirmed yet.

When i first saw this i automatically thought Gold/Silver/Crystal remake. But when i saw it had Giratina in it, now im not so sure. I would love if it was a g/s/c remake. A countering option for moves would be cool also, but i wouldn't want it to change competitive gameplay to something silly.

It is reported on Serebii to not be completely confirmed as of yet.

But given the trend the pokemon games have been on over the years, and also given that there's going to be a huge pressure for Nintendo to make this game (in part because of that report), I find it highly unlikely that they will refuse to make the game.

After all, it should make good money like all the other games did.

On topic: I really been looking forward to this as every 3. release of pokemon generation turns out to be the best game of generation. I just hope that this will be same case!

It's been said that Giratina, Regigigas, and Shaymin are all getting more forms. Apparently either the game is taking cues from the cartoon (the next movie in Japan features all three of them, with Giratina having a new form) or vice versa.

Seerow, platnium is an element and a colour. if you remember how the original GBA SP was a very light silver colour, that was platnium (it even said it on the box).
Describing something as being the same colour as platinum isn't the same as saying that the colour of that something is platinum, as for as I'm concerned. Also, I don't trust Nintendo to be able to differentiate between their elements and colours, given that they are apparently naming the third game in a series named after gems after an element (or colour if you think it's a colour). :tease:

idk i think its alot of fun, especially since no new pokemon will be introduced until generation 5, which is lightyears away. althoguh, lightyears is measured in time, not distance. (anyone get that reference?)

maybe the 'origin' form of Giratina is a pre-volution, or probably, just a completly different pokemon that just looks similar to the original. (eg. Mew & Mewtwo, Latios & Latias; very similar, but different).

P.S. what's shaymin, what does it look like, and how do you get it?

Shaymin is an event-only, or hack too I guess... but it's like, a white little hedgehog thing with a bush on it's back...

It's more likely that the Origin form is the same Pokémon with different stats. The other times Nintendo uses the word "Form" are referring to Deoxys.

I think that Platinum is more of a R/S/E remake because like in emerald they take the third legendary (Rayquaza) that you could already capture in game and make it the cover pokemon of the remake(like you could already capture Giratina in D/P). I also believe it is like emerald because they are taking the sunnyshore gym leader, Volkner, out and putting in a new gym leader(like what they did with Wallace in emerald) and are making a battle island (like the battle frontier).

It is just the thrid in the D/P generation, Like yellow was to RB Crystal to GS and Emerald to RS.

Yes, this is al very likely, but it still doesnt make it a remake of Emerald. It is just moddled after emerald.

I personally think that Palkia and Dialga wont play that big of a role in the thrid one and it will be more gigas and Giratina.

Has anybody considered that Dialga and Palkia will just run and you have to find them in the wild? they did that in crystal with the three legendary dogs and i think they did it in emerald with Kyogre and Groudon. Will Darkria play a part in this? Palkia, Dialga, and Darkria do have a grudge against each other(according to the latest pokemon movie).

Sort of off topic=Will celebi ever be obtainable in any of the American versions of pokemon without using a cheating device?(don't comment too much on this question, unless you are connecting it to Pokemon Platinum)

Kyogre and Grouden didn't run did they? I thought all you had to do was find the spot which was raining/sunny from the weather institute and go into the cave. They weren't in the wild. I don't think Darkrai will play a part though because it is an Event Pokemon. Its a pretty silly idea to have pokemon as an event only and then put it in a new game. It would defeat the purpose of events

Manaphy can lay Phione eggs, but Phione CAN'T evolve back into Manaphy. And actually, Groudon and Kyogre DID run... Otherwise, why would there be only one base open, and surrounded by either a heatwave or torrential downpour?

There is no release date.

It's not a Johto remake, it's the third in the D/P series from what we've seen. And you can get every Pokémon in Diamond and Pearl. You just need to trade for some of them.

Well this is out so Im sure Seerow you wont mind if i Bump this.

Well the silhouettes are confirmed Rotom forms. Each with its own special move. (Hydro Pump, Blizzard, Leaf Storm, and Over Heat)

There are many new tutor moves including seedbomb, outrage (I swear if salamimence gets this ill be pissed that I still need ice beam on everything.) and someothers that I cant think of. O ya Luxray get volttackle. Which just made it that much cooler. (Still ugly though)

The Regis are able to be obtained via getting a special japanese movie Regigigas. Each will be at level 30.

As said before we now have origen giratina and sky shamin.

Edit: On a whole I think many of the sprites look alot better too. Empoleon just looks badass now. Torterra I think looks worse but its just subtle changes. Infernape mad me laugh. The pose had so much bad assness but the made him horribly dispropotioned.
Lucario has a pretty cool pose and is alot more detailed. I still think he looks too human to be a pokemon.
The Pixies are alot better. I love, I meen holy fing sh!t love The new Uxie sprite, and that will be the sole reason I make Platinum my battling game.

From what I've seen in stores over here in Japan, there does appear to be a new battle system. It wasn't exactly clear to me since I don't speak, read, or write Japanese yet. Can't find a decent program or book to teach me. :bashhead: Oh well. I will be getting an English version when it comes out.

That said, it IS true that just because something works well in-game, doesn't mean it works well against actual intelligent players. Take your Luxray onto Shoddy Battle and see how it does.
