I got a Ditto and a Eevee from my Leaf Green game onto Pearl and I put them in the daycare to get an Eevee egg but it says they don't like each other! It worked in other games why won't it work on Pearl? Or does it just not work period?

Yes, you will get am egg, dont worry it's jsut the level split.

I had a same problem. You just have to wait and ride no your bike untill they are both close level to each other(at least 10 levels).

The ONLY way they wont breed if the old man says they prefer to play with other pokemons than each other.

Hope that helped.

Levels have nothing to do with breeding compatibility.

Here's a chart:
Same Pokémon, Different OTs: Fastest breeding
Different Pokémon, Different OTs or Same Pokémon, Same OT: Average breeding
Different Pokémon, Same OT: Slowest breeding

Which reminds me, don't their natures have something to do with the rate of egg-producing? Like two Jolly pokemon are gonna get you an Egg in like 10 steps, but a Sassy/Serious mix would take like 824905823 steps?

No, I don't think natures have anything to do with breeding speed. There are specific speed percentages that depend on IDs (or OTs) and species. I got the info below from Dragonfly Cave, if I remember right. (Please correct if I have a wrong source there.)

The chances of getting an egg depend on the parents' species and ID number (both visible and hidden ID numbers). The following cases may occur:

Same species, different ID numbers
The chance of getting an egg is 69,3% (has a value of 70).
The old man in the Daycare will say: "The two seem to get along very well."

Same species, same ID numbers
The chance of getting an egg is 49,5% (has a value of 50).
The old man in the Daycare will say: "The two seem to get along."

Different species, different ID numbers
The chance of getting an egg is 49,5% (has a value of 50).
The old man in the Daycare will say: "The two seem to get along."

Different species, same ID numbers
The chance of getting an egg is 19,8% (has a value of 20).
The old man in the Daycare will say: "The two don't seem to like each other."

Different egg groups
The Pokémon are uncompatible and therefore will not make an egg.
The old man in the Daycare will say: "The two prefer to play with other POKéMON than each other."

If the Pokémon are in the Daycare and are compatible, every 256 (0xFF) steps the value mentioned above is compared to a random number generated by the game, if the value is higher than the random number then an egg is produced, if not the same process will be repeated after 256 steps. The higher the value, the better it is.

The random number is between 0 and 65.535 (0xFFFF). Multiplied by 100 and divided by 65.535 (and rounded down by the game as usually) produces a number between 0 and 100, creating a chance of an x in 101 chance of getting an egg.

Yup. You can obtain an egg even if your Pokémon hadn't grown a single level.

They take lots of steps. To save some, get a Pokémon with Magma Armor or Flame Body as the ability and keep him/her in your party with the egg. This halves the number of steps.

Ok, could you give me some examples of pokemon maybe?

Slugma and Magcargo will always have the right ability. You can catch them right at the entrance to Stark Mountain. Other Fire Pokemon like Magmar might have it too.

The pokemon that can posess Magma Armor or Flame Body are Magby, Magmar, Magmortar, Slugma, Magcargo, and Camerupt.

Juat make sure they have the right ability.
