Masquerade

[Zazu]

A village called Sardel holds annual festival--a masquerade--to honor the ancient heroes of legend who defeated the evil deity, Evdiel, with their legendary masks that gave them the power of the elements. As Evdiel fell into the dark abyss into which he was cast, a new mask was formed, known as the Void Mask, said to create a void in the wearer that destroys all sense of right and wrong, creating violence and murderous intent. It is also said it gives the wearer the ability to summon creatures from those he kills.

Every year at the masquerade, the people of Sardel parade the masks of legend through the town, allowing the villagers to pay homage to the dead heroes. This particular year, the masks were stolen by a gang. The leader of the gang, Deiv (day-iv), donned the Void Mask, amassing an army of dark warriors. A few villagers stole the other masks back, putting them on in an attempt to kill Deiv and reclaim the Void Mask. However, Deiv was moving so fast that his army was growing too quickly to take down, and it was decided that a group of warriors would wear the masks of legend and take up arms against Deiv.

Background: James is believed to be a distant descendent of one of the original ancient heroes that stopped Evdiel. He has felt ordinary all his life and believed that he didn’t live up to his ancestor’s level. When he heard that a gang leader had stolen the masks that honoured his ancestor and the other heroes he was filled with anger and thought this a way to live up to the heroes merit.

Personality: Gwennie gets mad easily and normally looks at the ‘dark’ side of things. She isn’t very talkative and seems almost mean at times.

Weapon: Bow and Arrows

Background: Gwennie grew up in a little town in the middle of nowhere with her mother and father. She was happy and seemed like the most cheerful person in the town. However, that soon changed…

Gwennie went off to school one day with her little pink backpack and lunchbox, skipping as usual. She said hello to everyone that she met along the way. The school day started out just like any other.

Although, when she went home, there were men in black swarming into her home. She ran inside, only to find that her mother was dead and her father was being tortured. Gwennie did the only thing that a small girl could do; run.

Gwennie has been living off the streets since then.

Description: Mayra wears loose, dark red (yes, red) jeans that allow maximum movement, a yellow sleeveless top, and usually goes barefoot. She also wears her red hair in a messy ponytail that does a poor job of keeping her hair up.
Personality: Mayra is nice and fun to hang with around her friends, but there's a whole different story for the people she doesn't particularly like. She likes to pick oral fights with people she doesn't like, especially b!tches and hippocrites. It's fun for her to see how they react to her. She also like to burn people with little 'cute' comments, although she knows when to stop, as in she doesn't follow that person around all day and insult every thing they do. She stands firmly behind her friends and the "you're-allowed-to-have-an-opinion-but-don't-state-it-as-a-fact" rule. She fights fiercely to no end for what she believes in, and will never stop if someone insults her beliefs.
Weapon (if any): A spear. The head is made of steel and the shaft is covered with criss-crossing lines carved all over it.
Background: Mayra was a very smart child, and still is, but is very...well...opinionated. It got her into trouble a lot, but she always kept her chin up with the thought, "What's the worst they can possibly do?" She constantly challenged her teachers, which mad them very annoyed, and made Mayra very amused. She thinks the bane of her existance is gym teachers; they were always the rudest, hypocritical, b!tchiest people she had ever met, not giving a crap about anything. The worst ones were her middle school coaches; you could literally be writhing on the floor at their feet, dying, and they wouldn't care. She went through a pretty normal childhood, with parents that tried desperately to teach her good manners, but she never really learned them. She always loved the masquerade festival every year, and always tried to get there early so she could get the fire mask, for she always loved fire, the warmth it gave to the people that respected it, and the burns it gave to those who didn't.

Backround: Elliot has never been described as "Friendly." He stabbed a teacher with a pen. He knocked the teath out of five different students. He Even did the "Stove thing" to a lunch lady's hand. (Watch the video.) He was expelled from three different schools before they decided to lock him in the loony bin. One Problem: He escaped. He slipped into the festival to wear an ice repreduction, but ended up having the real one, as he is the only person with the willpower to wear it.

It's more medieval. And by the way, there is only one of each mask, hence why they're so sacred and honored. Other than that, everyone except Draxis is accepted.

Description: Luca has white hair, pale white skin, and deep green eyes. He wears dark clothing a lot

Personality: He's always willing to help others, but is very quiet

Weapon: Two jewels imbedded in the gloves on his hand allow him to focus light as weapons or beams

Background: Luca was born a freak. Pale as the sheets he laid in. His hair was ghost white and smooth, even as a child. He lived mostly inside, not because his skin was sensitive, but because his parents despised him. He actually had an affinity for the sunlight. He sat and stared out the window every day, writing dark poetry from the time he could speak. His only real time out of the house is when he snuck to the Masquerade each year. He blended in naturally. This year, he decided to help others, and donned the light mask, despite his dark soul.

Mask: Lightning
Description: Rayner has medium length bright white hair. His hair color not from being an albino, but he is a descendant of the hero who wore the Lightning mask, and ever since then, the children in his family have had pure white, almost glowing hair. He has hazel eyes, an oddity for his family, who usually have light blue eyes. He has an average body type, though slightly athletic.
Personality: Rayner is very outgoing and loves to be around girls. He is generally a fun-loving guy, though he certainly knows how to be serious when the time calls.
Weapon: Dual flyssas with decorations of lightning bolts across the hilt. The scabbards cross at his lower back.
Background: Rayner was born into the hero of lightning's family line. The town was also founded by the Hero of Lightning and named after him. Every year at the festivals, he watched from afar, never really seeing the masks. After most of the masks were returned from Deiv's theft, Rayner was given the mask of lightning, being the "heir" to it. He, like the others who received a mask began training with their awesome powers. He has shown great strength and natural ability at controlling the mask.

Personality: Tod isn't much of an attention-seeker, but he loves to fight. When he isn't fighting, he tends to act cool and unconcerned.

Weapon (if any): Katana with this (http://www.nature.ca/sila/ction/images/wtr.gif) symbol on the hilt.

Background: Tod was born into a family of Water specialists. His father was often strict with Tod's training and taught him how to fight. Before Tod's father died from a serious illness, he gave his son the Water mask, the heirloom of the family, believing that Tod had proved himself worthy to have the mask.

Description: Roran is 5ft 9in, weighs 151 pounds. Athletic looking. he has light brown hair.
Personality: Roran is easy going, but if he ever fights his moves are so flawless that he is hard to beat.

Background: Roran always watched with excitment as his father wore the Wind mask, and Roran hoped that one day he would get to, but all Roran could do was listen to the advice and wisdom that his father gave him. Untill one day that day finally came when Roran's father presented him with the Wind Mask. After recieving it Roran went out and practiced everyday.

Guys, the masks are a one of a kind and belong to the village, not families. The only reason Rayner's is in his family is because his family owns the village because his ancestors founded the village.

Background: Amandene watched every day as her older sister Andrea wore the Earth mask and performed tricks to entertain themselves, until Andrea went out into the woods and disappeared. All Amandene found of her was the Earth mask. The village decided Amandene showed courage and guts enough to be worthy of the Earth mask. Amandene still cries over her sister sometimes.
