So my fellow future GTA4 gamer...I have a question. Are you going to use a guide for GTA4 or are you going to try and beat it yourself?

I'm going to try and beat it myself without the guide and I cannot wait.

Without... first off, I've never had a GTA guide, second, I'm buying a console so I can play the game so I'm not spending any more money on this monster than I have to.

No guides for me.

The official San Andreas guide had a lot of false information and mistakes in it, hopefully they've improved on that since then, but I'm not a big guide guy myself. I'll probably play the game without any help, unless there's some mission that's really frustrating me.

I usually get the guide, and rarely use it. I only use it if I need to remember a mission or some obscure name. And yes, SA's guide was very messed up.

I got the SA guide because it seemed cool to get when i got San Andreas, i dont really know why though. And i probably wont get the GTA4 guide because i really didnt use the guide much for SA, so i probably wont need it. Plus its not like im trying to get 100%. Thats way too hard for me.

I always get the guide for GTA. However I have rules about the guide.

When I first get it, I read through the info about the game, the vehicles list, the weapons, features and sh*t like that. Then I play through the main story missions and NEVER TOUCH THE GUIDE. I always beat the missions under my own power. Then I use the guide for hidden packages, unique jumps, whatever else.

I'll definitely be getting it.

However the guide for San Andreas was NOTORIOUSLY unreliable for the hidden packages and stuff. I remember the maps being all off center so everything was wrong, good times.

I didn't realize where this thread was. Bumping up to GTAIV forum.

I've been thinking since I'm not buying the game, this one looks like a monster game that I will really immerse into. I may get the guide just for reading when I'm obligated to let someone else play.

I bet you've never gotten 100% in GTA either, then.

GameFAQs is free and works just fine for your 100% needs.

It's a lot easier with the guide. And not put together by 12 year olds with a console and PC.

I've gotten 100% in Vice City without a guide. It was my favorite GTA and I literally searched every nook and cranny for hidden packages. I also got somewhere in the 90s on GTA3.

It's a lot easier to use control+F to find a certain mission than look through a whole guide, and I don't think any of the guides on GameFAQs were put together by a 12 year old.

Yeah, not every guide submitted is accepted, it's reviewed to see if it makes any sense and if it's organized.

I've read the guides on GameFAQs. If they weren't submitted by a 12 year old. Then they were edited by one.

I don't need guides for GTA, even for all the extra stuff, that's why people post maps online. The missions and such, I've never needed a guide for.

Nah, I'm not going to get the guide, unless I've got a bit of loose money and I need help with something.
