Who chooses a sniper as the first weapon and another kind with overkill, then switches to the secondary weapon just to have the advantage of a ghille suit on the grassy/shurb levels?
I've wondered about this for a while

That is exactly my tactic. Unfortunately I've not got overkill because I entered prestige. But yeah, I had the M4 with a R700 as the primary. Don't worry ~lightning~, you're not alone:P

I would just use it so when somebody got close to me while I was sniping, I'd have something like the P90 to back me up. My kill/death started to skyrocket when I first started using it, I loved it. I started using other perks though, and I got used to the Desert Eagle enough to where I didn't need it anymore. It is a good strategy though.

I don't see why you need overkill. It's easy enough to pick up a weapon from a dead body, why waste a perk slot?

I did that a few times. The I buckled down and focused more on my sniping than using my secondary ovekill weapon.

Meh, I've thought about it. However, I'd rather have stopping power than a ghillie suit. Most of my sniping spots aren't in grassy areas anyway, so the ghillie suit gives me away most of the time, rather than hiding me.
Also, pistols really come in handy if you don't have time to reload. Having a bolt-action sniper wouldn't be good in close-quarters combat.

You need Overkill with a sniper anyways, in my opinion, a pistol is completely useless to a sniper... say for instance a guy jumps your claymore and storms your position with a SMG you're going to have problems defending yourself with those things...it definatly has other usefull purposes but are no match for the MG's and whatnot, the only pistol which I think is good enough is the DE, but it has a poor mag cap and no silencer...The Ghillie suit is awsome though, whenever I'm in Pipeline or Bloc and I hear a enemy running around me I just lie there completely still and he runs right past me, switch to pistol or stab him in the back! :D

Riiiiiiiggggghhhhhtttt.... which is why I own people with my pistol all the time...
Plus, whenever I did use Overkill with my sniper (a looooong time ago; before I even started my first prestige), I found myself simply using the M4 I had equipped. I left the sniper alone.

Easiest way to avoid that is to put a shotgun as your secondary.

With the desert eagle offering so much power there's really no need for overkill. Also, the USP.45 is deadly. It's the second best pistol in the game and if you're good with it you can defend yourself rather well. Obviously you're going to die no matter what you do but if you're going for sniper kills I'd stay away from overkill. It's just too tempting to use the secondary weapon. That's mainly why I use the USP.45 so that I wont find myself going desert eagle crazy.

I have two sniper classes which I both use very often, one is a 50.cal with stopping power and of cource the USP.45, and my other is a Dragunov with overkill, and a silenced MP5 as a secondary...very effective for S&D, headshots with the Dragunov and the MP5 is great to pull out when your the last man standing...

I did that once but Im finding more and more that I like being there in the fire fight way too much, so a ghille just isnt helpful for me.

Can someone please tell me what the Overkill perk is? I don't play CoD4 on XBL that often so I haven't unlocked it yet..

It allows you to replace your pistol with another main weapon like an assault rifle, SMG, etc.

Ohhhh.. That's cool. I can't wait to get that perk now. I've heard talk about a perk like that on Xbox Live but I wasn't sure if someone was making stuff up or telling the truth.. I guess they were telling the truth then.. Thanks for the info....
